Question about Washing Machines
I have a hoover hswf167 washing machine, it's been sat in storage for about 8 months and then not plugged in in another flat for another 6 and has been transported a few times between all these places but always with the drum bracket in place. When I've come to plug it in now, it appears to be totally dead. I've tried replacing the fuse (with a known good one, and have rewired the plug as the live wire looked like it could be damaged but still nothing so must be the machine. I've taken the top off and can't see anything wrong or out of place, there is a pair of black wires with a connector not connected to anything but i don't see anything for it to connect to so I assume it's redundant on this model. nothing seems loose and i can't see any signs of blown components. But obviously i'm not an expert, it worked before it went into storage so I assume it must have gotten damaged in transport somehow. Do you have any idea what's wrong and how I could fix it? I think it's under a 5 year manfc warranty but I doubt it would cover this. It's not covered by insurance. I can take digital pictures if it's of any help. I really hope someone can help, I can't afford to call out a repair person at the moment.
Washing machines have a cut-off switch that is activated by lifting the lid on the clothes compartment. Possible that the wires are to the terminals of this switch.
Take the top of the machine loose again and check to make sure this switch is connected.
This is where the power goes before it goes into the rest of the mechanism so it can appear dead.
