Disconnect each sensor individually and whatch the check engine light to see if it comes on usually when the check enging light comes on after driving for a certain amount of time or miles its not an o2 sensor its more that likely a valve somewhere like EGR valve or PCV valve....also check all your vaccum lines before attempting any repairs for you may be throwing money out the window if one of your vaccum lines is cracked. happened with my mustang i replaced my egr valve when all i neede where new vaccum lines. because the egr valve lines where cracked and the egr valve diaphram wasnt getting enough vac pressure.

Hi Paul, Have you had a fault code relating to the knock sensor? That sensor controls ignition timing which can have a relationship to the fault codes you report? Regards John

I HAVE A P0300 OBD CODE I DID A COMPRESSION TEST TO ENGINE AND IT PASS THE TEST,I DID CHECK EGR VALVE,CHANGE SPARK PLUGS,IGNITION WIRES, CAP AND ROTOR, I DID CHECK TPS SENSOR MAF SENSOR,FUEL PRESSURE,AND...

p 0300 code is for random misfires
random misfires are more from dirty /faulty injectors or low fuel pressure than anything else
have a pressure test done to check pressure regulator , filter and pump operation
use a can of quality injector cleaner or remove and clean the injectors

Engine codes displayed on OBD tool

You might want to start with spark plugs. I'm not sure if that year has coil on plug ignition, but if it doesn't, spark plug wires are probably in order as well. Some of the O2 sensor faults could be caused by the poor ignition your mis-fires are causing. Sensor 1 is closest to the engine, sensor 2 is further away, on the other side of the Catalytic converter.

Where is a HO2S21 sensor located on a 99 mecury cougar?

Its saying bank 2 sensor 1 Bank 1 is the same side of the motor as the number one cylinder. Bank 2 is the other side of the engine. Sensor 1 is always before tha catalytic converter. Sensor 2 is always after the catalytic converter. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

Where is the oxegen sensor located on a 2000 chrysler town and country 3.8 liter. does the oxegen sensor have a fuse

the oxygen sensor is located in the exhuast pipe, there could be more than one sensor, maybe 4 sensors on a 6 cylinder car and 2 sensors on a 4 cylinder car,so youre gonna have to know which one is bad,if the check engine light is on it will tell you which position sensor is bad like bank 1 sensor 2 something like that, also there is NO fuse for the o2 sensors
