Intermittent LOUD shorting sound

I would prefer to hear it to be sure which one it is, but the four biggest causes of noise in a wireless system are: 1) Something hitting the mic (check to make sure the mic is free of clothing, other people, faces, etc.) 2) If the mic is a lavalier or in some way has a cable that plugs into the transmitter, something pulling on it could create a loud noise. Check to make sure it's in snug. 3) RF Interference with another mic or some other interference source. Try changing the frequency. 4) Something blocking the signal between the transmitter antenna and the receiver antenna. This is most likely to happen with a lavalier in someone's pocket or under clothing, and/or if the transmitter is far away from the receiver. The SLX series is okay for what it is, but part of why it's on the cheaper side is because of its limited distance. Unfortunately the only ways to alleviate this are to a) Reduce the distance, b) get a stronger wireless system, c) move the transmitter somewhere that the antenna is free, and d) invest in True Diversity antennae for the receiver.

Improve reception

HI there,

Well Yes you can improve the reception, please follow the below steps -

Improve FM Radio Reception -

1. If you don't have an antenna connected to your FM receiver, purchase a simple dipole antenna--a simple T-shape flexible wire-- and connect it to the FM antenna inputs on the receiver. Because FM signals are directional, you'll want to experiment with the positioning of the wire to find the best reception of the station you're trying to receive.

2. If you're still not getting a good signal, try an indoor amplified antenna, which you'll find at an electronics store. Don't buy one unless you get a guarantee that you can return it for full credit if it doesn't solve your reception problems.

3. If your signal is weak because you live a long way from the transmitter, install an outside antenna and mount it as high as is practical. If you're primarily interested in getting signals from one station or from a group of stations in one direction, get a directional antenna and point it toward the transmitters.

4. If you're using a portable FM radio where the only antenna is the power cord, stretch the cord as straight as possible and experiment with positioning again.

5. Temporarily switch to monaural mode to improve a weak signal on an FM receiver.

Improve AM Reception -

1. Gradually rotate the radio 360 degrees. Leave it in the position where it sounds best.

2. Reverse the AC plug if it isn't polarized. (If you can flip the plug over, then it's non-polarized.)

3. Plug the radio into a different AC outlet.

4. Move the radio closer to a window.

5. Experiment to learn if appliances and powered products in your home are causing interference: computer monitor, television, electric blanket, light dimmer, fluorescent light, hair dryer, air conditioner, smoke detector. If possible, turn off the offending item. Otherwise, move the radio to another room.

6. Upgrade to an external antenna if your receiver, tuner or radio has a place to connect one.

7. Buy a passive AM antenna that doesn't need to be connected to a radio or receiver.

Good Luck!!

Thanks

My RCA 52in. has a blue screen... Will not show a picture?

  1. Check menu to make sure a signal is present. try video 1 with a external video source such as a VCR. If this produces a picture check for tuner signal by hooking the VCR to the antenna and tuning to channel 3 or 4. If their is no picture check antenna connector on back of set for looseness. If loose resolder antenna connector in tuner. If all these test fail the tuner may be defective and will require replacement.

Garage Door won't open.

Your only shot is to make sure the receiver antenna ( the one on the opener itself ) is connected properly, clean, and not shorted to anything metal. While you're up there clean off any wasp nests and other dirt and crud which may have accumulated on the receiver or terminals. Hopefully you have a second transmitter which is also range-limited, 'cause if you have one "good" transmitter then your receiver is not the problem. If there's just one bad transmitter, go buy a replacement.

Instructions for a swr meter/cb radio

An SWR meter is used to see how well your antenna is matched to your transmitter output, just like using the correct speakers with an amplifier.

There are usually two readings. FORWARD and REFLECT
or FWD and REFL

Firstly, make sure the antenna selector is in the correct position and set for the antenna you are using.

Next, switch your meter to FWD (FORWARD). Switch your transmitter to low power and press the microphone key.

Next, adjust the CAL knob for the maximum power reading, but not so far that the meter exceeds maximum!

Keep the microphone key pressed and switch to REFL (REFLECT). If your antenna is matched, the meter should now give a low reading. If the reading is very high, you must match your antenna by making adjustments or by using a matching unit.

A poor match will mean a poor signal. A very poor match can damage your transmitter and cause interference.

When you have a good FORWARD reading and a low REFLECT reading, your system will be reasonably matched and you can then use higher power. Remember that you will need to reduce the CAL knob to a lower setting when running high power.
