Check the toner replacement instructions, it will mention a glass window that has to be kept perfectly clean. One speck will make a line on the paper.

My hp laserjet 2015n is printing a black line down the paper, what is this and can i fix it?

Hi:

One way to determine what is causing this is to do what is called a "panic stop" while printing a document. As the paper is starting to be fed into the printer shut it off and remove the toner cartridge.
You ideally want the paper to be under the print cartridge. Examine the image on the paper. Is the line visible on the paper at this point? If so, then the problem is with the print cartridge and it will have to be replaced. If the line is not showing up on the paper then the most likely culprit is the fuser section. This is were the toner on the paper is fused to the paper by heat and pressure. The heat roller or heat sleeve could have a line on it which would correspond to the line you are seeing on the paper.

I replace the receit roll and it doesn't want to print.

Either you do not have the paper threaded correctly and it isn't passing in contact with the printhead or the paper roll is upside-down. That printer uses a thermal printhead and the correct paper for it will be sensitive only on one side.
To check, take a length of that paper, place it on a hard surface and make a line while pressing with a finger nail. The correct side will show a blue or black trace where you did this.
The paper has microscopic bubbles on the printing surface that is sensitive to heat or pressure. Either will cause the bubbles to burst and release the ink trapped in them.
If you find no trace on either side, it isn't the correct paper for this printer.

DARK LINES/SHADES APPEARING ON BACK OF PRINTS

when the print-out shows lines or streaks on the back of the paper when printing single sidedly, this usually means that the fusing unit is dirty or broken. another possible broken part may be the photoconductor unit.

Printing blank pages on Lexmark C510 printer. Throws a 34 Short Paper error first, prints out a blank page. I have replaced the black toner, but problem continues. Demo page printed colors successfully but...

For 34 Short Paper error, reseat the tray guides and make sure it is set properly. Also, set the correct settings in the computer. For blank pages, always double-check the paper settings and again the settings in the computer. For not printing black, print the Print Quality page and see what color is not printed or not showing. If Print Quality shows black, try printing any document from any application in the computer. Check if you still have the problem. If problem is not resolved, leave a comment so I can get back to this.

Lines down the paper HP 4600DN

This means that the problem is with the toner drum. Just try to clean the drum of the toner with cotton. It is green colored rod in the toner. then try to take the print. If still you get the line while printing please either replace the toner or get the drum replaced from a local vendor

Canon Pixma ip1500 is printing but very wierdly. random lines will not show up in black. If i change the color everything is fine but black will skip lines and such. Please help! Can't turn in job...

Your printhead is plugged and needs cleaning. If you remove the inks and then the printhead, you can wet and fold a paper towel and just dab the printhead gently on the wet towel. When you see a solid black line on the paper towel your printing should be improved.

Print quality reduced.

You probly have a cloged cartridge. Most of HP's cartridges are water based ink. Take the cartridge that is not printing good, color or b/w, set the copper colored end, which is the print head on a dry paper towel. You should be able to see all colors as a solid line, or the black will show 2 solid black lines. The one that is not correct, take a paper towel and get it damp, and set the print head on the damp towel, be sure to fold the towel or it will stain the table you set it on. and let it set for a few minutes. Try the dry towel again. You may have to do this several times..You also should have software to prime your cartridages. After cleaning, try to prime the cartridge.

Printer/Scanner Problems

Does the line show up on PRINTS FROM YOUR COMPUTER also, or only when SCANNING A DOCUMENT? If the line is only from scanned documents, the SCAN GLASS has something stuck on it. The SCAN GLASS is a GLASS **** located under the ORIGINAL FEEDER. It is NOT the plate of glass you place the original on . Look UNDER the original feeder for a scrap of paper stuck in the optical path of the GLASS ****, and remove the scrap, or CLEAN THE SCAN GLASS IF CORRECTION FLUID, INK, ETC ARE STUCK ON IT. If the line shows up on ALL prints, your CHARGE CLEANING SLIDER located in the IMAGING (DRUM) UNIT must be slid all the way to one end of the charger, OR IT WILL CAUSE A BLACK LINE ON ALL PRINTS. Otherwise, the IMAGING UNIT may need to be cleaned or replaced. Toner smudges on the drum would indicate need for cleaning or replacement.

Black Lines

Do the black lines only show up when useing the adf???? Or do they show up on both the adf and the copyboard glass??? If it is only when using the adf...... The fix is easy.... you have to clean the smaller piece of glass that is to the left of the copyboard glass with windex or rubbing alchola. If it is with both you may need a new drum and blade or a new ufr... Good Luck
