The only battery I know that is in a desktop is the bios battery, located on the mainboard/motherboard and is a little round silver battery about 1 inch (25mm) in diameter carefully remove this and replace with a new one. You may have to reset any bios settings you had, like the time and date but if you don't know what other setting were then when you switch on to access the bios you tap the "del" key or it could be "F2" on some machines, it is normally displayed in the bottom of the screen when you boot which key it is, just keep tapping it until you get the bios settings, once you get into to bios select the "restore to default" setting. It is possible you wont have to alter anything and if you replace the battery quick enough it will hold your original settings, so a quick tip is to get the number off the battery and get a replacement before you remove the old one. The other thing that could cause your problem is that your power supply is faulty, but go for the cheaper option before you go buying a new supply. As a last thought, I don't suppose you are using a UPS (uninterrupted power supply)? I don't think this would cause the problem but if you are remove it and go direct just to try it.

My ac is not working I have a Chevy Tahoe 2005 the fans won't turn on either .

Hi Maria , The A/C system wouldn't keep the fans from running but none working cooling fans will keep the A/C from working ! This is a fairly complex system if your not familiar with this sort of thing ! I will add the description from the factory service manual.
Cooling Fan Control - Two Fan System
The engine cooling fan system consists of 2 electrical cooling fans and 3 fan relays. The relays are arranged in a series/parallel configuration that allows the powertrain control module (PCM) to operate both fans together at low or high speeds. The cooling fans and fan relays receive battery positive voltage from the underhood fuse block.
During low speed operation, the PCM supplies the ground path for the low speed fan relay through the low speed cooling fan relay control circuit. This energizes the low speed fan relay coil, closes the relay contacts, and supplies battery positive voltage from the low fan fuse through the cooling fan motor supply voltage circuit to the left cooling fan. The ground path for the left cooling fan is through the cooling fan s/p relay and the right cooling fan. The result is a series circuit with both fans running at low speed.
During high speed operation the PCM supplies the ground path for the low speed fan relay through the low speed cooling fan relay control circuit. After a 3 second delay, the PCM supplies a ground path for the high speed fan relay and the cooling fan s/p relay through the high speed cooling fan relay control circuit. This energizes the cooling fan s/p relay coil, closes the relay contacts, and provides a ground path for the left cooling fan. At the same time the high speed fan relay coil is energized closing the relay contacts and provides battery positive voltage from the high fan fuse on the cooling fan motor supply voltage circuit to the right cooling fan. During high speed fan operation, both engine cooling fans have there own ground path. The result is a parallel circuit with both fans running at high speed.
Do you have a check engine light lit ? The thing to do would have it check at the dealer or a ASE certified repair facility ! They could hook up a advanced scan tool an diagnose fairly quick ! Or you could find a wiring diagram an try testing with a volt meter yourself ! But watch yourself so you don't short out the PCM - engine computer !

I have a invacare taurus. . When I plug charger in the fan works for about 2 seconds then stops?? Won't come on unless I unplug but goes off after 2 seconds again? Any help please

There are a lot of possibilities here. The most likely is that the batteries are too low. If the battery voltage is TOO low, then the so-called 'smart charger' won't even 'see' any batteries to charge.

This usually means old or dead batteries, but if they just got low somehow but are otherwise OK, try using a car battery charger to slow-charge them (one at a time) back at least where your charger can see them.

Hi, I had a start problem with my celica. tried to turn the car over and a constant clicking sound was made, however all lights were on and the radio was working.. thought possible starter problem,...

The problem is that your battery is extremely low. The repeated clicking sound is your starter relay trying to engage, then releasing again when the starter takes the remaining voltage available to try to turn. When the relay disengages, the starter can no longer take any voltage at all, so the relay again engages and the process starts over. This results in "CLICK, CLICK, CLICK, CLICK...." There simply is not enough power available to operate both the relay and the starter.

Your alarm system doesn't have enough voltage to function properly. It "thinks" that someone is trying to steal your car or is messing with your battery cables. It doesn't know the difference between low voltage from a dead battery and low voltage from somebody disconnecting wires. It is simply responding to the low voltage condition as it is designed to do. Fix the voltage problem and you will fix your security system. No need to reset anything.

Jump-start the car or replace the battery and get your charging system checked to make sure everything is functioning properly. It is possible that the battery is good but you have a bad alternator and the battery is low because it is not being charged.

Hello, im trying to install a booster fan to add more CFM to one room, my question is what is the best way to wire it up so it goes on and off with the furnaces blower motor? thnaks in advance

The "best" way would depend on you system's layout. If the booster fan is not too far away from the blower motor, you could drop pair of low voltage wires from the booster fan to the blower motor relay switch (coil side) along the duct. Connect the low voltage wires to a relay switch for the booster fan (again... coil side). This way, when the thermostat closes the circuit and engages the blower motor relay switch, it would also engage the booster fan relay switch; thus turning on the booster fan. If the booster fan is close to the thermostat, you would connect the low voltage wires to the thermostat instead. Either way, the wiring is essentially the same.

I would check the code to see what it is. The fan may be dragging the system voltage down to low and the code may be a low system voltage warning. It would be good to know what the code is. You may very well have a problem that cycles with the fan.

I have an AVR 988 system that will only shut down manually. I have shut down the system, changed batteries in my remote. Neither solved the problem. Any ideas?

Its a common problem with this Denon model series 1508,1708,988 the trouble lies with the power supply voltage going low. Usually its either the 15 or -15 volt that goes low. If either voltage goes low it will trigger the protection circuit hence the unit will shut down.

Getting alarm after genuine APC battery replacement

restart the ups by to turning off your ups and main source. and turn it on again. anybe the battery u purchase is deflected. change the new battery & test again. i suggest to replace other type of battery like neuton power, chloride powersafe as this type is much reliable and cost saving. the cost of the the problem if still occur it could the setting of the UPS that it to configue.. ask the vendor to check your ups

Replaced alternator and battery still showing low/varying voltage

check the battery ground cable and make sure that you have a good engine do this you need to use a voltmeter and check for voltage drop between the battery terminal and engine it should not be more 0.4 volts .if that is o.k. the alternator internal voltage regulator is not good and replce the alternator again.also make sure the drive belt is tight.

let the ups be turned on just charging the batteries, u can have the voltage but the batteries still not fully charged. good luck
