Question about Nikon D5100 Digital Camera
Won't pop open on any setting. Shoe is hot and works with other flash
Not even when you press the button on the left side of the class? the one with the flash symbol.
Switch on the camera and then press the button.
Look in the manual how you can setup the flash in all other than the automatic mode.

Hi and thanks for coming to FixYa.
You can set the parameters for the manual flash in the Custom Settings Menu. Select Full to set the manual flash adjustments.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions in a comment.
