When on a hands free call on the T7316e, how do I turn off the ringer for incoming calls? Its a huge distraction and I can't seem to turn it off, or mute it for the duration of the call.

Is there a FEATURES button on the phone? If so, look to see if there is a RING TYPE SELECTION or something similar (maybe FEATURES * 6). Or else, look for VOLUME ADJUSTMENT (Softer-Louder). While phone is ringing, you can adjust the volume to lower level, and possible all the way off.

How to I turn the universal volume on a Norton Networks T7316E Phone?

Have you tried to call the phone and adjust the volume on the set while the call is coming in? I think the only way you can adjust the ringer volume is if the phone is ringing.

The volume control adjusts the handset, hands free, headset, and ringer volume. Someone may have fiddled with the buttons and turned the ringer down enough that it doesn't sound when a call is incoming.

Ringer settings on 8825 base unit

You can adjust the volume and pitch of the ringing by pushing Menu, scroll forward to Desk Station Settings, push Select, scroll to Ringer Volume and you can adjust the ringer volume, and in that same area adjust the pitch. So you might want to make line 2 ring lower, and with a different pitch so it is not distracting, but still notifies you of an incoming call that is not line 1. The same goes for the handset.

Simply want to turn ringer off at my phone for external incoming calls

How do you want to be notified? How do you determine if a call is for you? Does an operator answer the call and transfer it to your extension? If so, you just need to change programming for your phone so it does not ring for incoming calls. It would still ring if a call is transfered to you. Programming is changed in the phone system, not the telephone. Your phone can be used on different Nortel systems that program differently so you need to find out which system you have and locate the manual for that or pay a local installation company to make the changes.
