So replace the printheads. They do go out just like the ink cartridges do and need to be replaced.

How to take out printhead for Dell P703w user guide


Remove the cartridges as you normally would. Then instead of replacing an empty cartridge, lift the latch on the top of the printhead. Now pull the printhead up and out of the printer. For pictures see the User Guide section on replacing the printhead: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/P703w/en/UG/maintena.htm#wp1187645 .

For some printers, you can clean the print head with bottled (or distilled water) and lint free clothes (Q-tips). Just dampen a bit, squeeze out the excess water. Then wipe away from the nozzles. Wipe the contacts on the inside of the printer as well. Then dry with additional clothes before reassembling. Make sure that the printhead latch is fully down before replacing the ink cartridges.

See if this solves your problem. You may need to power cycle the printer to clear the error. Unplug the data cable (if USB) and unplug the power cord from the printer and then from the wall. Wait a few minutes before reconnecting the power cord. Some printers may need a printhead replaced or additional service. (Usually the printhead is a non-refundable item if it doesn't solve your problem.)

correctly? if no. then Repair or

that prevents the Printhead from moving

to push the Printhead right to left. Make sure the printhead area is cleaned.
4.Is the Printhead stuck to the Wiper Blade?
Start the printer in diagnostics mode and run diags test Exercise Heater - toggle Printhead heaters to soften the ink. Manual separate the wiper and Printhead. Set them in their home positions.
5. Does the X-Axis Motor drive the Printhead
to its center position (so it can tilt forward)? if not
Troubleshoot
the X-Axis
drive.

3 beeps is still telling you that the printhead has a problem. Did you put in a new printhead? You also have to tell your printer by holding the resume button for the correct amount of beeps to set it for the printhead you have installed.

I replaced my black cartridge on my injet 2230 but it keeps telling me that i need to replace black printhead. I've tried two so i know it isn't a problem with the cartridge


The cartridge does not have a printhead included as part of it.
The printhead is a separate thing normally located behind the cartridges.
You need to replace the printhead, not the cartridge.

Assuming that you have actually read or looked at the installation instructions and been using this printer this error usually means that there's a problem with the printer being able to "sense" or connect to the printhead.

Best way to resolve this is to check the following:

  1. Remove all the cartridges and remove the printhead from the printer

  2. Check the printhead copper contacts (found at the back of the printhead) and remove any ink smears, hair or other foreign material that may be causing connectivity issues

  3. Check that the printhead carriage (the bit that the printhead normally sits in) has no damaged or broken contact pins.. These can be damaged when a printhead is forced into the carriage.
If you've checked and resolved or found none of these to be a visible issue, try turning off the printer, turning it back on and then installing the printhead (without cartridges!) and see if the printer is recognising it..

Then try installing the cartridges carefully and see if that solves the problem.

If not, it's probably either a blown printhead in which case a new printhead can be purchased from Canon or a service center.. or you have damage to the printer that you cannot see and perhaps it's time to replace the printer or take it to a service center.

Printing quality


Printing quality on this printers is great, yet there are some trouble with older printheads.

You should follow this in order to fix the problem:
- Remove both ink cartridges
- Remove printhead (press release button on the inner left corner of the printhead, above where the black ink cartridge goes)
- Close the cover and wait until it tells you that the printhead is missing. When it does, open the cover again and place the printhead inside (put it in and press towards the back of the printer, make sure it makes a loud snap).
- place both ink cartridges in
If the printer says "press start to copy", press the menu button and select calibrate printer, and then select "print calibration sheet".
If it just tells you that there is a new printhead detected and calibration is requiered, follow the instructions it will give you.

Once you calibrate the printer,
- Press menu, scroll down to "clean printhead" and select "deep clean"

Once that is completed, go ahead and print.

If it is still not working, you got a defective printhead and you need to replace it.
You will need to go to kodak.com/go/itg for additionl troubleshooting and the replacing of your printhead, or you should just call 1 800 421 6699 and have then replace the printhead for you. This is free of charge.

Display says printhead not installed or loose


Make sure when you put it in, you are firmily pushing it towards the back of the printer, until you hear a loud snap. When you put it in the first time, DO NOT put the ink cartridges in. Close the cover and wait until it tells you that the ink cartridges are missing. If it is still telling you that the printhead is missing, it should be replaced. You may contact kodak support @ 1 800 421 6699, and have them help you to replace it, free of charge.

The printhead is not for sale.

IF after replacing the printhead you have the same problem, then is the printer the one that needs replacing.

This is no sparepart and belongs to the printhead which is only sold in one part (Flat white cable, printhead and printhead cover).
