Question about Onkyo Audio Players & Recorders
The receiver had been working just great, this morning I turned it on and it wont transmit any sound. The video is working fine. I can switch from cab/sat to xbox and see the video on TV - but no sound.
These units have a common problem with the firmware not being able to load correctly. Only way to really fix it is to replace the digital board - really expensive repair. Can sometimes be fixed by reheating Q3001, but this doesn't always work.

This might somewhat help. Today I went back .. I went HDMI out of the Cable box and DVD player into 2 of the TVs HDMI ins. The digital audio out from each, straight to the receiver and things are working ok. All speakers are working OK. Sound isnt as loud or crisp but unfortunately I found no other solution.

Not sure if this is your fix, but I had what I thought was the same problem. I played with my Onkyo quite a bit ensuring the correct assignments for HDMI, audio and all that stuff. Turns out I neglected to make sure the output devices were properly assigned. Many devices aren't default to output sound over HDMI. I changed the audio out settings on the cable box to HDMI and suddenly the Onkyo worked great. I know, I'm an idiot for not checking that in the first place, but maybe someone out there is having the same trouble as well.

For me, it was the Monitor Out setting that had defaulted back to Component. I remembered to change the individual inputs to HDMI - but had forgotten to set the Monitor Out to be HDMI.

Hello, I just tried the same thing for about 2 hours on a buddies system. I did find on the internet to try 0000, 0001, 0002, 0003, 0004, to 0007 see if one of these work?
