You don't state what model you have. I just replaced the rotor on a Champion Model 41302 but removing the stator is the same process.

You will need to remove the muffler and muffler outer protection. Remove the bolts that hold the muffler outer protection. Remove the two bolts that hold muffler to the engine exhaust.

Take a block of wood and place it under the engine to support the generator. The supports on the generator head end will be removed so the generator will tip down and make it difficult to remove the stator.

Remove the generator end cover by removing two bolts.

Remove the bolt from DC brush assembly and pull out of generator. Picture below shows assembly removed.

The stator and cover now can be removed from the generator. Take a rubber mallet to tap on the back of the brackets on the end cover to loosen it. The rotor bearing is seated in the end cover making it hard to remove by pulling by hand. Once lose pull straight out.

The stator can now be removed from the generator end by taking the four bolts out.

The installation process is the reverse.

SOURCE: I have a generator that does not produce any

As long as you have continuity through the stator and rotor windings, and no continuity from the windings to the core, you should be good.

If the brush block was replaced due to it being defective, take a look at the diode and capacitor regulator as well. Using a multimeter, the diode should indicate continuity in one direction, infinite resistance in the other. If you get this, then replace the capacitor. If not, then replace the diode, and likely the capacitor as well.

How to remove generator rotor to replace piston rings.

There should be a long bolt in the end of the rotor that screws into the crankshaft of the engine. Take that one out and if the rotor doesn't fall off then a gentle nudge with a rubber mallet will be necessary.

Motor runs fin but smoke major pouring out of generator end and circuit breaker will not stay on

If you were drawing major power from generator, you may have fried capacitor or voltage regulator. Both of these parts tend to make smoke when they fail. Stator winding can fail also but rare. Remove end cap to generator. Look for melted strings that bind coils together or melted wires. This would indicate failed stator. If stator looks ok, look for capacitors that look swollen or leaking that my be easily replaced. Caps have a value printed on them and reading should be within 5%. If caps are good, look at half moon shaped regulator. Failed regulator will have melted potting compound. Good luck

The coil rope broke I would like to know how i can repair it. Generator 5500 watt champion.

If I understand correctly, you have a pull-start generator.

The rope to the pull-start broke.

This happened to us out on the job one day.

Our equipment might be different than yours. Our pull-start assembly is held with 4 bolts. Simply remover those bolts and lift off the cover ... carefully. The rope is attached to something I will call a pulley. The rope wraps around the pulley several times.

Do not lift out the pulley that the rope attaches to >> or the spring that re-winds the rope will come un-sprung (at least it did on our machine). If the spring comes unwound, then you got another job, and have to put the spring back also. Your machine might be different.

Keep pulley in place. Remove rope. Get another rope with same diameter and length and put it in.

I have a Hobart Champion 10,000 welder generator. It runs but I am getting no juice out of it. Won't weld or put out power to run anything.

measure ouput on ALL available sockets - anything?
Take cover off electric motor-generator, visually inspect windings.
Measure continuity of all stator windings (2 or 3 points usually)
Measure continuity of stator thru brushset.
If all measures ok - has to be AVR module.

There is no mistery in generator - just stator to induce and rotor to obtain voltage.
