Silent servant convector vent -free space heater

I would never blow out a gas heater with a compressor... It is too powerful and you could have damaged something inside.

I would get it checked by a gas fitter.

Toyostove Laser 73 has EE8 code after we had an electrical outage. The blower fan is not stuck. Could the loss of power damage the fan motorr? Where do we purchase a new fan motor?

Probably wasn't so much the loss of electric power, as it was perhaps, a surge when it came back on that could have damaged the fan motor
.
You should be able purchase a new fan motor from the dealer your bought the heater from. Or if that's not an option, go to http://www.rinnai.us/ and search for a authorized dealer close to you. That way, you can be sure you're getting an OEM part.

Hope this helps resolve your problem.

How can i tell if my toyostove laser72 igniter is working properly after i have removed it from the unit

If the igniter is still out of the heater, it will get hot enough to burn you in just a couple of seconds if you turn the heater on. You can test the igniter with an ohmmeter. If you connect the ohmmeter to the 2 ends of the igniter you should get 10 - 17 ohms if it is good. With the igniter installed in the heater you can put a clamp on ammeter around just 1 of the leads for the igniter and should get between 2 - 5 amps if it is working. You can also feel the cap over the end of the igniter. Turn the heater on and the cap should start to get warm in 30 - 60 seconds but may take longer. Also, if the igniter is not working you will not see any flame after the 3 minute warm up the heater goes through. Of course this could also be caused by a lack of fuel. The quickest way is either the ohmmeter or ammeter and takes any guess work out it.

Will a monitor exhaust fit on a toyostove?

No. The Monitor has a male fitting going into the stove and a Toyo has a female. The diameters are not the same either. You want a Toyo exhaust pipe for your Toyo. The exhaust is is larger as is the air side. Don't mess around, get the right stuff.

Noisy when operator...especially during start-up. A deep rumbling...a bearing wearing out? Vibration...something loose Thank you.

Depending on how much the heater has been used, you may just have carbon/soot built up on the exhaust fan blades. This can be remedied by removing the blower assembly and cleaning the exhaust fan blades. They are the set on top. If could also be a bearing as you suggest but I would check the fan blades first. Let me know if this doesn't fix the problem.

My Toyostove OM-22 smells like exhaust gas in the room. I think its a gasket problem (fuel line looks OK; vent pipe is clean) I want to buy replacement gaskets for the burner, the flame sensor, etc....

There are some orings in the exhaust that might need replacing. Do you have a parts breakdown for the heater? I repair monitor and toyostove heaters and can get you the gaskets. I'm in NC. You can contact me at nitensheaterservice@embarqmail.com

IT SMELLS A LOT

If it smells like exhaust, look on the back of the heater and on the inside if possible for any black marks made by the exhaust. This will show you were it is leaking.

My toyostove is making the room stinks(burned dieseal ) smell. What is causing this?

Something to check would be the exhaust vent for leaking. We just replaced our old Monitor 40 because it was making some terrible exhaust smells in our house and it turned out their was a crack on the exhaust line just where it enters the stove. May be worth looking into. They are a lot cheaper than a whole unit!

Hi ejohn,

There is no valuable, practical adjustment for the flame on a Toyo Stove. A yellow flame can be caused by several things. How old is the stove? When was the last tune-up? A dirty sooty carboned up stove will have a yellow flame. A breach in the flue pipe will cause a yellow flame. An incorrect installation of the flue and exhaust hoses/metal exhaust elbow will cause a yellow flame. In the last scenario, the intake will be hooked to the exhaust and the exhaust will be hooked to the intake ports of the flue pipe. A malfunctioning fuel pump can also cause a yellow flame. The wrong fuel can cause a yellow flame, too. Most likely, your stove is dirty and needs a tuneup. It should have a bright blue flame if it is clean, and operating correctly. You can download a manual at REE, Anchorage through a Google search. If you want a more detailed diagoses, write back and give me more detail and I can help you further. Toyotech
