How Does an MRI Work

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), also known as nuclear magnetic resonance imaging, is a technique for creating detailed images of the human body.
The human body is mostly water. Water molecules (H20) contain hydrogen nuclei (protons), which become aligned in a magnetic field. An MRI scanner applies a very strong magnetic field (about 0.2 to 3 Teslas, or roughly a thousand times the strength of a typical fridge magnet), which aligns the proton "spins."
The scanner also produces a radio frequency current that creates a varying magnetic field. The protons absorb the energy from the variable field and flip their spins. When the field is turned off, the protons gradually return to their normal spin, a process called precession. The return process produces a radio signal that can be measured by receivers in the scanner and made into an image.

My mom had a MRI scan of her brain. White spots were detected on both her frontal lobes of her brain. What could this indicate?

MRI cancers and tumors images benign or malignant
are solid masses
not white dots ..also the patient would be presenting with a few specific symptoms if a tumor or cancer was present
and other tests would be required not just an MRI

depending on age
and health of patient ....if its good ..without symptoms
may never be a issue .
more will .will depend on the MRI radiologist report

Put all you questions and your concerns to the specialist team

MRI isnt the only diagnostic tool available to these specialists
plenty of information , biopsies , key hole techniques and trial drugs out there

one possible answer about white spots on an MRI
bright spots, representing multiple sclerosis brain lesions, that form and then grow, shrink, or disappear over 12 months

Multiple Sclerosis

I had MIR done and it said ,on the right side there is an abnormality which demonstrates enhancement. Thesextends into the neuroforamina and is certainly consistent with a plexiform neurofibroma. Thi

Magnetic Resonance Imaging. This technology measures the signal from precessing protons as they relax to a lower energy state after having been pushed to a higher energy state by a radio frequency pulse. So, the image is generated from proton concentration in the body unlike X-ray images which are generated from density differences such as bone and soft tissue. To get useful information from soft tissue, MRI is often used because soft tissue has a higher concentration of protons (H+) than say bone. Bones do not provide much useful information in an MRI scan but do when using X-rays.

Ive just plugged it in and it hasnt registered. The green light hasnt come on ontop of the cam. I have tried different usb ports but the pc isnt picking up the connection.

You need to install the software driver, either from disc or the Logitech website. After loading the driver the webcam should work. You can always test it on the free webcam test tool.
