Question about Televison & Video
Video and Sound gave out during usage. Unplugged TV and tried different outlet but same problem. Power light comes on but NO Video or Sound, when I turn it off Stand by light Blinks 5 Times and then goes out. I removed the back looking at power supply BN44-00440B but found no bulging capacitors. I have the option of replacing the power supply but I don't want to spend the money if that is not the problem. My Question Is: What does error code of the standby light flashing 5 times during shutdown mean?
IKR Error at power on 05. This is the fault. it is related with its main digital processor board itself. For more information go to http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Testimonial: "Thank You, guess I won't rush out and buy the power board. I ordered a service manual for my LN40D550K1F so I can specifically run down error codes for this model. I'll replace the Main board if needed, I just didn't want to buy unneeded hardware."

A 5 blink error indicates a bad lamp driver. However a lamp may possibly cause this too. I suggest putting a new lamp in if you have one just to verify the lamp is not the problem. If it still fails with a new lamp then the lamp driver is the problem. This part should be replaced by a Sony authorized servicer. The lamp can be replaced easily by you. The lamp replacement instructions are in the TV's owners manual. Good Luck

SOURCE: standby light flashes 3 times
A 3 flash pattern indicates that either the lamp is not seated correctly or that the lamp door is not latched properly. It can also be a fault with the switches that sense whether the lamp is seated or the door is latched. Try reseating the lamp and relatching the lamp door

Mine stayed in stanby mode and all I had to do was to switch the plug to a different outlet. The power strip it was on wasn't providing enough power. It worked fine for a month before I had a problem.
