How long have you waited for it to boot? I know some servers take forever before they send a signal to the monitor. However, if you're get the monitor test screen or "no signal" screen, this usually is a sign that the monitor is not getting any signal from the server, indicating a bad cable or loose connection or the like (though not always if it's still booting). Have you looked in the server cabinet to make sure nothing is broke on the on-board connection or something? Is the DVI port you mentioned on the external PCI card? What does it plug into? I'm guessing you've checked for any installed video cards. Is there another port on the front or anything under a panel?

Poweredge 6600 not showing display

If you have multiple video connections (onboard from motherboard, usually vertical or stand alone video card, usually horizontal) that you plug into the stand alone card, as the onboard is normally disabled when the expansion is installed. Verify the cable and monitor both work and that the monitor is on the correct input. Finally try another video card, if you have one available. Even if the drivers are not correct, etc, you should still see a boot screen.

You can test for a display by plugging another monitor or borrowed monitor. You will know exactly where the trouble if you only have the other monitor which is really working and test it to your computer. If there is a display that means your monitor is over. But if there is no display that means you have to focus on your video card or memory. You must have the small paint brush and hard eraser because you are going to clean your video card and memory pin. First you must discharge electro static by holding the computer casing chassis for about 2 minutes because computer components are very sensitive to electro static which is present in our hands or body. After discharging unscrew the video and gently slide the eraser to the pin of the video card and same with the memory then use the paint brush to remove the dirt on your video card and memory pin. Then plug again the video card and memory test for a display. If there is a display test the two monitors for making sure that the monitor is still working or need to buy a new monitor. Have a nice day.

X2 gen 17" lcd monitor, no display

This indicates either a problem with the monitor cable(ie shorted) or the display adapter. Try plugging the monitor into a different computer and if it works you will need to install a new display adapter in your computer. If it doewn't work on the new one either you can try a different monitor cable if yours isn't permanently connected. Hope this helps

LCD monitor trouble

Hi

It could be an issue with the monitor or the software or the drivers for the graphics card.

Pls uninstall the display drivers, restart the drivers and reinstall the display drivers and then restart the computer once again and check the display.

Also pls install the monitor software that came with the monitor.

Also you may try downloading the original display drivers and any driver updates from the graphics card manufacturer website and check the display.

If the above steps doesnt work, then the monitor has to be serviced or replaced.

Booting probleam

Hi FAYU,
First make sure that the monitor is plugged into power and properly connected to the tower. If it is, does it sound like the server is actually powering up even though you are not getting display? If the server is powering up, then I would suspect the monitor to possibly be faulty. You can troubleshoot this by attaching another monitor.
If the server is not powering up, then you may have a faulty power supply or faulty processor.
