How do I check the battery for low cmos.?

If the CMOS battery is low or dead, the system will force you to enter the current time and date into the BIOS each time the machine is turned on. If it boots normally and retains its settings then the battery is OK.

How do I fix my CMOS Battery Low error so I can correct the Time and Date since it's stuck on the 01/01/2004 date and won't save in my BIOS?

This is usually a very short and sweet step to complete.
After you have changed the CMOS battery over to a new one all you should have to do is go into BIOS set the date, the time and the year. Save the settings in the BIOS, exit and restart the computer.
You have to set the date, time and year in the BIOS first then change it on the desktop.

The proper battery to use for CMOS is a C2023 coin cell battery.

Hope this helps

Chek smos errer

You have described you problem incorrectly. I guess the error mess is "CMOS Cheksome error. " I guess.

This messenger comes due to following situations.
1. CMOS battery low. Check for the CMOS battery (most commonly CR2032) power if it is low this message can appear.
2. BIOS has been reset on purpose or by a fault. Set time date and other settings.
3. Motherboard problem. Rarely motherboard will have this issue with CMOS or with the battery powerline making it to lose CMOS Setteings. Change the motherboard or live with it.

Regards

When to change CMOS battery?

You will need to change the battery just when the computer says something like this "System CMOS checksum bad - Default configuration used" or also could say something like "CMOS battery low", etc. That's the time to change the battery.

Got message "CMOS battery low" What steps are

Assuming you know how to get into your computer and identify the CMOS battery, you just need a pair of tweezers or similar to remove the battery. Once it has removed, take it into a drug store or pharmacy and find the exact same battery, and replace it in the motherboard. If you can't identify the CMOS battery, please let me know and I can help you with that.

Every time I turn it on, I have to reset all setting, It will not save setting after it is turned off. I.E clock, and date: some times wireless settings depending on how long it was off. Cmos batterie?

Hi,

YES. The CMOS battery (complementary metal-oxide semiconductor) is low off charge or dead and needs to be replaced.

The CMOS typically is a battery-powered memory chip in your device that saves information needed at start up (before any software or program will run). If the battery is low of charge or is dead, you will eventually lose your personal settings and even some factory settings. The CMOS battery can be discharged if you have not used your device for long time.

Hope this helps.

I have a Dell dimension 9150 which is 2 1/2 years old. Does it have a battery that I need to be concerned about replacing. I remember that used to be a problem with computers but don't know if that is...

Hi,
Every PC motherboard has a battery. That battery serves two purposes: to feed the configuration memory (also called CMOS) and to feed the real time clock of the computer (the one that show the date and the time).
An indication it is time to change the motherboard battery is receiving one of the following error messages when you turn on your computer: CMOS CHECKSUM FAILURE, CMOS BATTERY STATE LOW, CMOS SYSTEM OPTIONS NOT SET and CMOS TIME AND DATE NOT SET. Another indicator of a low battery is a clock that, after being set, runs well while the computer is on, but shows the wrong time when the computer is turned on the following day (it is late).
