Hello llerretwatts, my dad often has a hard time with this. there are two ways i know of to do this. most cameras come with a usb cord that plugs into the camera and also into the computer. the newer the computer the easier it should be. most newer ones will recognize the camera as soon as both ends of cord are plugged in and the camera is turned on. the computer should direct you step by step from that point on. other newer computers also have ports in them that the memory card can be taken out of camera and placed into the slots. my laptop is this way.

if your trouble comes after this part, maybe you can fill me more as to the specifics of the problem

How to put pictures from a computer onto poweshot a480 camera?

First of all, if you've edited the pictures in any way (opening a picture in a photo editing program and then saving it without making any changes counts as editing) then the camera most likely won't be able to display the images.

You can transfer files (not just pictures) to the memory card using a card reader. Plug the card into the reader and it will appear to your computer as another hard drive. Simply drag-n-drop files to it the same way you copy other files on your computer.

Panasonic lumix dc vario can't download pictures onto computer

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa.

this is a very odd problem, I have the same camera and it works fine, your best bet is to buy a usb SD memory card dongle. they are about 14 dollars, this will solve your problem with the photos, but I don't know why your camera won't work properly with the cable., have you tried it with the cable on your friends computer?

The computer can recognise the camera memory as a removable drive without actually recognising the camera as a camera. Try looking in "My Computer" for an extra drive (Under "Devices with Removable Storage") and opening that. There should be directories with picture files in that you can drag to your desktop.

It may be that your camera driver has stopped working for some reason. You could try to reinstall it, but you don't really need this just to get pictures onto your computer. Usually the "Camera and scanner" installation is for using the camera as a webcam.

Goto any radio shack and get a external memory card reader this will allow you to get your pictures if the camera or cable is defective.

Canon EOS 40D won't export my pictures onto my computer

Sometimes you need to have the driver files for the particular camera. The 40D does require this and I experienced the same issue. You may be able to download the files at the Canon website. Try this link:

Transferring pictures

You might try putting the pix on a rewritable cd, and then copying them from that drive onto the smartcard drive with your card inserted. Or just try copying directly from your computer file to the smartcard drive with your card inserted, essentially using the computer's hardware to do the job instead of the camera's software.
