Or try to change thermostat only if u r unable to get the result.

Compressor having long life its rarely being NG.

The refrigerant is still liquid it need to be compressed so that is most likely the noise.

try turning the breaker off for several minutes, if the compressor does not fire up the control on the back will need to be replaced. I have seen this issue several times on this model, let me know,

Well, yes, but not because of the gas. We all gotta go some time. LOL. You were exposed to a small amount of R12 refrigerant. It is NOT toxic. Sure massive exposure (depleating your O2 supply) would not be good, but you'll be fine. Relax. Buy yourself a new freezer and rate me a FixYa.
