SOURCE: Loud Fan on XPS 200

Ravege is correct, try to clean it first with some canned air.

If that doesnt work then follow the steps mentioned, however use caution.. Some companies actually glue the fans down to the proccessor, ive come across it more than once. If the fan does not come off easily then do not yank and tug on it to hard, you may cause alot of damage to you cpu.

SOURCE: My XPS 200 keeps shutting down and power light blinks

If it does it when it "gets loud" it is obviously overheating. That will cause it to do lots of things including shut down-it may also render your HDD/system inoperative.
Just out of curiosity, have you opened it up and cleaned the dust bunnies out??

SOURCE: Dell XPS 410 power supply

Hi,

This issue happens when your computer is using or requiring a large amount of power source or the power supply is simply dying out already. You may want to update the BIOS. If the problem perists, replace power supply.

I hope this works for you. Good Luck!

I have dell 3300mp,when I turn the power on it makes a very loud noise. It does not make the sound in standby or cool down. It does work and display a signal okay, but it is very loud. Sound like a fan?,...

The main fan that cools the lamp is mostly high speed when the unit is running. when it shuts down it slows the fan down, until it stops in standby. So the noise is only really loud when it is showing a picture.

try setting the fan to eco mode (slower running) and see if the noise is acceptable. If it is still too loud then you will have to replace it. Have a look at the fan and see if any of the plastic blades are missing.

Loud Noise on laptop when booting

Most likely it is the POST throttling up the fan to 100% during boot up. Then it switches over to ACPI(?) power manangement and Windows manages your fan speed to extend battery life.

Suggestions:
Go to Dell Support Site https://support.dell.com/support/supportrequests/create.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs
Download the latest BIOS updates and run it.

If it continues, try a can of compressed air, and breifly blow out any debris from the system fan. Bits of paper and critter-fur can get sucked up into the system.

New graphics card has extremely noisy fan

It's probably a Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT
I'm wondering if it is new. Older cards do sometimes have fans that fail. Unfortunately, they are usually fans with bushings, not bearings, and when they fail, there's not much you can do about it. Yes, I have lubed them and it helped for a while. If you do that, I'd use a really light oil, like a sewing machine oil, and very little of it.
Heck, it's loud now, so you really can't hurt it!
Let me know what happens. You can click on my name and choose "ask me" if you need to contact me.
