SOURCE: My Dell 1905FP 19 monitor went black & green power light flickers

It sound like a short circuit. I had this problem with 1907FP model. It had an USB port on the monitor which got damaged and it was shortening to the groung. In your case it might be a bad internal power supply board.

SOURCE: My Dell 1905FP LCD monitor Power light blink on startup

It's most likely a couple of the eletrolytic capacitors on the power supply board. This type of cap can go bad over time, and that would lead to the symptoms worsening over time like yours has. It's mostly likely a couple of 10V, 100uF caps in my experience. They should be easy to identify: they will be the ones with the top bulging upwards. Replace those and you should be good to go! If there aren't any bulging caps, just replace all the 100uf caps. (there should be no more than 5)

If you attempt this yourself though be carefull: any caps that haven't gone bad can hold a charge even when the monitor is powered off. Depending on the capacitor of the cap, accidentally contacting the leads on a charged cap can be anywhere from painfull to dangerous! A preventative measure is using an insulated handle screwdriver, short both leads of the cap together on the backside of the board to drain the cap.

You may have bad caps (leaking/bulging tops) in the power supply or blown fuse. This is what the board looks like.

If the power light is on, but the screen never appears to light up, either the backlight or the power inverter have failed.

Try to connect the monitor to a working PC.
If there is no problem, then you may try your laptop with a working monitor.
If you having same problem may be you should review the process for outputting display from your laptop.

1905FP Monitor Powers up, briefly shows logo, blacks out.

Look inside for bad caps with bulgng tops, worst case will be shorted out transistors in the backlight inverter circuits or bad lamps. Check to see if you do have he 12vdc for the inveter circuits. See example of failed monitors with bad caps here: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums

My Dell 1905FP LCD monitor Power light blink on startup

Hello,

This is a classic symptom of filter capacitor failure on the power supply board. The Dell 1905FP and 1907FP both use the same power supply and this type of failure is very common. You can repair the unit by replacing the filter capacitors on the power supply board. Here is a picture of the board with the problem capacitors circled and below is a link to a repair guide for this series monitor.

My dell 1905FP power button flashes green and will not turn off, the screen is black.

Hello,

This is a common indication of a failure in the power supply. There are parts called capacitors that are used in the filter section of the power supply, when they go out the power supply can't properly turn on so you get no picture and a flashing power light. Here is a picture of the power supply board with the problem filter capacitors circled in yellow and below the picture in a link to a repair guide with details dis-assemble and repair instruction along with parts list for the Dell 1905FP and 1907FP models.
