Question about Samsung BP59-00016A Remote Control
I have a 55" Samsung Tantus rear projection TV. There is an LED bar beside the power button with four sections: TV (red), VCR (yellow), Cable (green), DVD (orange).
Last night, the red TV light was flickering and the remote was unresponsive. I changed out the batteries which had left some corrosion on the connections. I have cleaned the connections by air blowing and scraping out all the white crystals.
But now, my remote is unresponsive. I press buttons and it causes the lights to shift between the four modes. If the select button is held, the light stops flashing, is illuminated for a while, and then goes dark. But when I release the button. It goes back to flashing again.
On the TV screen, I can see the display shifting from TV to VCR to Cable to DVD but none of the buttons like "ASPECT" or "VOLUME" will function. Please help!!!
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I HAVE THE SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM.
Confirmed with Samsung tech support. Problem is with remote. to fix, simple take the batteries out of the remote. Press and hold the UP Volume button for 2 Mintues (no cheating, it has to be at least 2 minutes), this Reset's the Remote Control. Put the batteries back in. Bob's your uncle. all fixed.

I had the same problem. The problem is strange and seems to be with the receiver in the TV and not the remote control. The reason I say this is that when this first happened my Samsung brand DVD could actually control the TV. This then also failed, but still works fine with the DVD player.
Anyway there is an even more bizarre fix to all this......
- Remove the batteries from your TV remote. - Press and hold the red (ON/OFF) button for at least 1 min. - Replace the batteries and hey presto!!
I know seems far fetched but I found it on the Samsung website and it does work.

Replace it with a Universal Remote with Learning, This way, if the new Universal codes in its Manual don't work for your Samsung, (they most likely will if the new remote is not used older one bought off eBay) then you can Teach it to Learn codes off the working keys on you Samsung.
Sony Learning Remotes are a very good choice, sold at Walmart or eBay. The advantage to a good Universal, is you can also program in all your other audio/video remotes into one remote.
