Question about Washing Machines
I started a load of clothes, using my custom button and then it filled for 30 seconds and then started agitating. The lights all started blinking and it seemed to have gotten electrically confused.Help please?I have unplugged it for a few moments but has not helped.
What is the model and serial number of your washer? You'll find that information on a tag located on either the top or back of the control panel, behind the door panel, or on the lower-front or sides of the main cabinet body.
If it is under warranty, call the toll free number that's in the user's manual. Some manufacturers have phone line support where you can either tell them the problem or error code and they'll advise you how to clear it- or what the problem is.
If it's going to be an out of pocket expense, call a local reputable repair service; they;ll apply the initial service call as credit to the repair bill. Like any electronic device, if it is going to cost you more than 2/3rds of what the washer is worth, you are better off purchasing a new one.
I try to steer people away form appliances that have electronic control boards. They are too expensive to replace. Should you choose to buy a new washer, I suggest buying one that has the mechanical dials- not only are they more durable and last longer, they are inexpensive to repair. Same for ovens/stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

most ge washers you just get ya fingers under the bottom and jerk up hard they have a plastic piece under them that has to be replaced from time to time its no big deal

Agitator's don't spin on wash cycle.
I would suggest washing the clothes without soap until they rinse clear. If you have hard water, the soap will not easily rinse out of clothes, or off of you when you use soap to wash or shower.
Reduce the amount of soap you use in each wash if this is the case. It sounds like your washing machine is working right.

Pull the agitator out and check the drive collar splines. If you have the model I think you have just pull straight up on the agitator. Once removed you will see the drive collar with a 7/16 head bolt, remove it and pull off the collar.First before pulling it off spin it if splines are stripped it will spin freely.

Open the soap dispenser. Look down in front of the fabric softener dish.
You should see a yellowy-green plastic cord (like weed-whacker line). Pull it.
The door should open.
If you don't see the cord, remove the four screws that hold the dispenser lid in place to find it. Just don't lose it when you put the cover back on.
