What does vox and rog. Stand for on the cobra microtalk

VOX is the abbreviation for Voice activated transmission, and ROG is likely the abbreviation for Roger Beep, which is a small beep or series of beeps at the end of a transmission that alerts the other person you are talking too that your transmission has ended. this is mostly used when signals are noisy, as the beeps are a sure sign that you have finished your transmission.

Can we turn off the beeps after transmitting. Sometimes I don't want that noise.

Some Cobra radios have a selectable "Roger Beep" while others do not. Without the model number I can't tell if yours can be switched off or not, but if the option is not mentioned in your operating instructions the beep is permanently ON.

Does a cb have a effect on auto ignition?

The Cobra 29 LTD has no effects from the factory. Commonly if an aftermarket effect has been installed it may act erratically on startup, for example roger beeps on the 29 tend to activate when you turn the unit on.

Get rid of roger beep

This seems to be true for Uniden and Motorola 2-way radios, might work for your cobras;

turn off the radio
push down on the channle up button
while holding the button, turn on the radio
once the radio is completely booted up, you can release the ch up button

Let me know if it works either way!

Thanks,
Mike

Want to disconnect the bleep out of my cobra 148 gtl dx

open the cover speaker side and look inside the radio look for a small square board that the previous owner might have had installed that would be the roger beep. the white wire is the audio wire. and usualy is soldered to the audio pin if you remove this wire the beep will be disconnected. but you will most likely want to remove the whole system but it will still work if you dont which would be best. just cut the white wire.

Want to disconnect the bleep altogether on my cobra 148 gtldx

If this is a stock cobra 148 gtl 40 channel am plus side band, they don't to my knowledge come with a built in r beep. Some roger beeps are instaleed through the transmit circuit on the mic, so if not in the know Don't try to fix it.Some microphones have a beep built in. I used to install beeps on these radios using the pa/cb switch to turn them on. also try the nb switch or the swr/rf switch.

How do you go to silent mode?

There are two different kinds of beeps you can control, the "roger" beep and the "button" beeps. Below is an excerpt from the owners manual explaining the simple procedure.

“Roger” Beeps/Talk Confirmation Tone
When you turn this feature On, your two-way radio transmits a unique tone when
you finish transmitting. It’s like saying “Roger” or “Over” and lets others know
you have finished talking. If the person you are talking to does not hear the talk
confirmation tone, you can enable it by pressing and holding + (plus) as you turn On
your radio. Now, whenever you release the PTT, you let your friends know you have
finished talking by transmitting a “Roger” Beep tone. “Roger” Beeps will be
disabled as the Default Setting.
Note: To toggle the Talk Confirmation Tone feature, turn your radio Off and then
back On while pressing and holding + (plus) .

Button Beeps
Every time you press a button on the front of your radio, it beeps unless you turn
Button Beeps Off. To turn Button Beeps Off, turn your radio On while you press - (minus) and
hold . To turn Button Beeps back On, turn the radio Off and then back On again
while you press and hold the - (minus) . On is the Default setting.
