Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have done everything my instructions have told me to do, in the Setup section. Having problems getting the TV to work. Could the remote be locked and if so what/or how can I unlock it.

Having a problem reprograming my TV. I have done as my instructions stated with the TV. (Set Up Your TV) but it's not working. It checks for Antalog & Digital and states there are none. I am hooked up to Comcast cable. I have followed all instructions but my screen is a blue with no picture and no sound. Do you think it could be the remote? Or is there a way that some one could have accidently locked the remote or tv, while trying to do the setup? Is there a code that I could use to unlock?

Well first of did you move the tv because not all outlets are active in a home correct practice for cable tech is to only actvate used lines due to open ports causing ingress/ picture issues. if that is the case easy fix either move it to where it was or try to identify the old cable and swap it or best suggestion call the cable company if its cox I know they do not charge to change outlet

To open its child lock, you might have its original remote control. Try these methods. Locate the manual for your television. Though slightly embarrassing, accidentally turning on the child lock to a TV is a common problem. The section In the manual about how to set the child lock feature will also explain how to unlock it.
Try a few "universal methods" for unlocking the child lock. Some televisions have a universal code built in for disabling the child lock --no matter what your code is. A common code is "0000."
Unplug your television for a few minutes. The internal battery of the TV is what helps remember what your code. If the TV is unplugged for an extended period of time, it clears the internal memory, which in turn will reset your child lock code.
If you wish to buy its original remote control, you have to contact the authorized service center. If you wish to buy a universal remote control, you should know about, which brand remote control have setup code to your TV/device brand. You should first make sure about the number of digits in the codes to your device have. There are 3-digit, 4-digit, 5-digit and even 2-digit codes. You can get this detail by the code list attached to every universal remote control. The brand name of the remote control you select isn't a matter; but, its code list should have setup codes to your TV/device brand, otherwise you can't set it up with your device. Check this link and note which brand remote control have set-up codes to your device brand, and buy that brand remote control, according to availability.

I'm using a remote provided by my cable company the problem is the remote programing codes they have don't work for my tv. They told me to contact the tv manufacturer to get additional codes. Can you help?

I would just go through the manual setup for the remote. most controls have a function that instead of inputing a code, you press the up channel button until your television turns off. immediately after finding that point, follow the instructions to set that code in place. usually the instructions are printed somewhere on the remote.

Comcast Remote Control - Won't accept remote codes

To reset the remote control, just take out the battery from the remote control, and reinsert it after an hour or so. The remote control will reset itself.
After that try to set it up with the setup code said for your device. You might have to try many codes before getting a code that'll have the most functionality with your device.
Setup procedure and set up code list of many popular brand remote controls are given by these sites. http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/ http://remotesearch.blogspot.com/

Everything works except no picture of tv

The Television may be out of synchronization with your remote or may be configured incorrectly.

1. In front of your Television, press the Help button on your Harmony Remote.
2. Answer No when asked "Did that fix the problem?"
3. The Harmony will then ask, one by one, if all of your required devices powered on when the Activity was started. Answer Yes or No until all required devices are powered on.
4. Answer No if the remote asks if the TV is set to the correct input needed for the Activity. In this example Input 4 is used, though this may vary from your setup. If the TV switches to another input but no picture is seen, continue answering No until an image appears.
5. If you now have a picture on your TV screen, answer Yes when asked if the problem is now fixed. Your television was simply out of synchronization with your Harmony One and should now work correctly. Please try switching between your other Activities to see if they switch correctly. If this has not fixed the problem, proceed to the next section Confirming your Activity Settings.

To confirm your Activity Settings, please follow the steps below:

1. Launch the Logitech Harmony Remote software and login to your account.
2. Click on the Activities tab on your home page
3. Click on the Settings button for the Activity you wish to troubleshoot.
4. Select Review the settings for this Activity and click on the Next button.
5. Confirm the input chosen for your television is correct. Select No, I want to run the setup wizard again to change these settings and click on the Next button.
6. Click on the Next button through the Activity setup screens until you arrive at the screen asking the question "What input or channel does your ... TV need to be on? From the list, select the input that the TV uses for this Activity. Once finished, click on the Next button.

**NOTE: It is recommended to perform these steps for all Activities that use the television.

8. Click on the Done button on the Set Up Activities: Summary page.
9. Click on the Done button on the "Select the Activity settings you would like to modify" screen.
10. When you have finished, click Done to save your changes.
11. Click on the Update Remote button to update your remote.

Can not find the code to program my comcast universal remote nor my ge universal remote

Hello jazzyjp21,

I'm sure you are but double check to make sure you are entering the code correctly, Here is the correct way:
  1. Turn Your TV ON.
  2. Find the codes listed next to the brand of TV.
  3. On the remote, Press and Release the TV key.
  4. Press and hold in the SETUP key, until the TV key flashes twice, then release the SETUP key.
  5. Using the number pad, enter in the first 4-digit code found next to your brand. The TV key will flash twice after the last number entered if this was done correctly.
  6. Aim the remote at your TV and press the Power Key. If the TV turns OFF, you have found the right code. If the TV does not turn OFF, repeat steps 3 through 6 using the next code listed for your Brand.
You didn't list the brand of TV so here is a link with codes for the major brands.
http://www.comcast.com/remotes/tvcodes.html
Find yours and then follow the instructions above to enter them. If that still doesn't work let me know or repost with the brand of TV so you can get alternative codes to try. Hope this will help you.

Thanks,
edgin96
