Check for blinking lights on the control panel to determine if there is an error (consult your documentation for troubleshooting)

If you cannot determine there is an actual error, reinstall the printer's drivers.

1) Unplug any connection to your computer from this device (usb wire, scsi, cat-5 cable)
2) uninstalling the drivers from the hardware menu
3) reboot your PC
4) confirm the printer is no longer installed on your PC by going to the printers section of your control panel.
5) Follow the installation proceedure ducumented for your printer.
6) restart your PC if requested, if not go to step 7
7) test that you can print to your printer.

If this does not fix your problem, contact HP support. They may have more information for you. I'm seeing alot of these HP LJ3380's today. are they all yours?

Printer won't feed and makes a strange grinding sound

Its probably just old and worn out. They dont even make bubble jet printers anymore. Printers are cheap now anyway. Go to www.tigerdirect.com and you can get a printer for around 50 dollars.

Automatic document feed tears paper and jams in machine while trying to fax.

Make sure the unit is clean, and free of debris on the feed rollers, also make sure you are using the appropriate size of paper for your printer. Make sure your paper is seated properly per the models needs. Make sure you don't have too much paper seated.

If these solutions do not help you resolve the issue, please contact HP, or search the HP help for more information pertaining to your printer. hp.com

Printer either eats up paper or won't print anything out

what you might try is to find some thing that has been laminated on both sides and manuall feed it in to the feed rollers and see if you are able to push out what ever is in the paper path making your paper go in crooked. brother tech

Paper will not feed.

Hi, my name is Alex and I am here to help solve your problem regarding your printer.

Please make sure the paper is preloaded into the printer before selecting print. Also please try turning the printer off and then turn it back on and make sure the paper is loaded when doing this. This is normally a common problem so nothing to be worried about.

One other thing to do, please check inside the printer and make sure no paper is trapped in there, there shouldnt be as you would get the paper jammed window on your screen but when little bits of paper get left inside the printer, when the new paper goes to get fed inside the printer, it doesnt go down properly.

I hope this makes sense to you. Please let me know if you experience any more problems.

HP Laserjet 3380

If it is from the adf which is on the top then there is a small piece of paper stuck in the back. open the lid and you will find a plastic holder in the back. This helps the paper turn through the adf. Usally the paper is in there or this is out of positions which will cause this.

Paper not feeding right

Hey. I too am having that problem with my ip1800 canon printer. It makes a weird "clicking" sound whenever I turn it on, and then when I try to feed it paper, the sheets either get stuck and become crooked and cumpled. OR, when it does sound like its printing, it doesn't print on the page--maybe the tip of the page, but not the whole page.

Hp LaserJet 1100: Runs louder than normal and continuously, BUT will not grab paper and print

Fred shine a flashlight down the paper feed throat and see if the feer roller is rotating when the printer tries to print.
I have had to replace many of the feed rolls and separation pads in this series of printer.
the tires get dirty or worn and feed multiple sheets or none at all. check for obstructions as well-sometimes the black mylar sheet which sits in front of the feed roll gets in the way of the paper path and has to be pushed in place. I have also seen paper pieces stuck next to the paper path switch which is visible after removing the toner cartridge. hope this helps.

HP laserjet 3380 ADF

It sounds like the rollers need to be cleaned in your ADF. Please make sure there isn't any torn paper or labels in the path of the ADF. Try qtips and some water to clean rollers. If you have roller cleaner that would be great or 91% alcohol but be very careful with the alcohol. DO NOT use anything below 91% because it can cause damage to the rollers. If this does not work you will need to replace the rollers in the ADF. Good luck.
