In most cases "PROTECTION" message appears when something is improperly connected to system. Try to disconnect everything, and reconnect it step by step.

Can't get the disc drawer to open/ close

When your home theater's display reads PROTECTION, it means the home theater is over heating and the unit will shut down to prevent any damage. This can happen if the unit is stacked along with other electronic devices or the unit is in an enclosed area that prevents the unit from cooling properly. To decrease the chance of overheating, relocate your home theater to a more open area.

If the home theater display reads PROTECTION every time you turn it on, no matter where or how the unit is placed, it needs service. To set up service call Samsung Customer Care at 1-800-SAMSUNG (1-800-726-7864). Have your model number and serial number on hand to set up service.

Hope this helps!

Problem "protect"

Hey guys, just had the same problem and found out it was because I had disconnected the central speaker. This it was creating a back impedance or something and reonnecting did the trick! i.e. check your speaker connections and check that they work... duff speakers could cause the problem too!

Protection

It seems the unit has a thermal overload issue. It could just be an adjustment, or a defective part is going bad. Also try and check all the speaker wireing for pinches or shorts. Also have the speakers checked as maybe one is going bad and overloading the output stage. If you do all these things and it is still shutting down then you have no choice then to have it tested on a bench at a repair shop or replacing it. Good Luck PS Please dont forget to rate this thread.
