Question about Canon PIXMA iP6700D InkJet Photo Printer

My printer makes a loud BANG when I turn it on, then displays Error 5100 and is unusable. Your local service rep. says it'll be cheaper to replace than repair but you no longer list this model. 1. Can t be fixed economically? 2. If not, what model do you recommend as a replacement? Paul Robinson

First, there is no Resume button.  I see Stop/Reset and OK, and tried your procedure with both.  Didn't help.

The noise, however, I now realize is not a BANG but a very loud scraping, as though the ink carriage is grinding against something.  In fact, I find the carriage fully left when I open the cover. and it does not move to the middle.

    Any better ideas?

You should check the metal slide for any kinks in bar, Also check for a broken belt which pulls the ink cartridge along the slide rail.
If the cartridge is not moving, that means there is a jam and it is making the the belt or gears scrape due to the pressure.
So I do suggest dismantleing as much as possible and look for kinks, broken belts, or anything out of ordinary.
If all else fails, take it in or exchange it.

"Service Call Error E54"

This error code indicates a fault with the Main Motor. Either it's jammed or unusable. Unplug the printer from the power source, leave it for around 30 minutes, . While it's turned off, remove the cartridges, check for any damage, then put them back in. After tha, then reconnect it to the power and turn it on again. If this still doesn't clear the code from the display then you'll need to see a Brother service agent to have the main motor replaced.

Error message 5100 on Canon MX300 printer

If the ink cartridges are stuck you can manually slide them back to their default position and check for paper or junk which may have slipped down the paper chute and is blocking the ink cartridges.
Remove the blockage
Reset Printer
Done
I just had this problem and it was easy to fix.
If this not help, buy another printer! Cheaper than service...

Selphy DS810 printer. Error code 5100. Possible full waste ink absorber? I just replaced an empty ink tank. Can I fix this problem myself?

How long have you owned the unit? This problem occurred after you changed the ink tank? Once I have more information I can assist you further.
Thanks,
Lee

Error 5100

Dear Scub,

Did you hear a loud crunching sound from the printer before the error code 5100 was displayed?

1. You may need to send in the unit for service. Some Cannon Service offer temporary replacement unit while working on yours.

Checking and do-it-yourself inkjet printer repair is messy.

2. You can try check if the print head assembly (carriage) moves freely from left to right. Lubricate/clean if necessary (If your printer has one) check also the **** strip at the back of the carriage. This is a plastic film with multiple dark notch like mark. Clean with cotton swab and light solvent or isoprophyl alcohol.

If these does not solve your problem, guess your back to # 1.

PHASER 7700 ERROR 30

try this
The following functions will generate a Tech Rep Fault:
  • Error: 30: Belt Home Too long
  • Errors: 12, 13, 14, 15: ATC-YMCK Sensor Fail
  • Errors: 40, 44: Fuser Main/Sub Lamp Temp Too High
  • Enter Service Diagnostics
  • Highlight NVRAM Access and press OK
  • Highlight Clear Tech Rep Faults and press OK
  • Highlight the Tech Rep fault to be cleared and press OK

If you have had the error 3 consecutive times , you do need to send the snippet to the printer to clear the error. The instructions how to do it are in the download.
Other things. You may need to replace the accumulator belt.
You may have toner backed up in the waste auger, you can clean that out and replace the waste bottle.
Cause:
The plastic tab attached to the cleaning blade assembly was broken, this tab opens the cleaning blade waste assembly when the belt is lowered .
Solution: thumbsup.gif Fixed! thumbsdn.gif Did not fix. The waste toner from accumulator belt cleaner could not reach the waste bin and jammed the augur. This caused the grinding noise by stalling the accumulator belt motor. This causes an error 30 code to be displayed.
The belt cleaner does come as a separate part 016-1889-00 and is very easy to fit and much cheaper than a new belt assembly.
Error 30 is a Tech Rep fault. After three Error 30's, the NVRAM Clear Tech Rep Faults will need to be reset to be able clear the Error 30 message.

Service error 5100

Error 5100 is either a logic board, or
the code strip (if that is the problem) is another matter -
It is the plastic strip that runs across the printer and through the head
carriage, it is supported at each end (one end under spring tension).
If it has become dislodged it will give this error, also if it has any ink,
grease or other foreign matter on it, it will give errors.
You can clean it with a cloth dampened with water but you need to exercise
great care to avoid pulling it off its anchors.
The other thing to do is clean the stainless steel bar that the carriage sli
des
on and lubricate it with a cloth moistened with 3-in-1 or light machine oil.
If neither of these works then I guess it is repair shop or replacement time
