Question about Rheem Ruud 51-24272-01 Blower Motor HVAC NEW

Air handler blower fan doesn't blow. It does jerk a little every half-second or so.

The fan spins freely by hand when power is off.

When it tries to come on give it a spin with something safe (not your hand). If it takes off and runs replace the capacitor. It may just be missing the initial boost it needs to take off from a dead stop. That"s the capacitor's job.

Goodman air handler ARUF036-00A-1A does not blow air in heating or cooling mode only hums/buzzes, what could it be?

Looking at the wall thermostat, you will see the fan switch that has two settings: fan auto, fan on.
You will need to place the fan switch in the fan on position for testing purposes.
This will make the indoor fan run continuosly, and never cycle off.
In the fan auto position, the fan will turn off when the thermostat temperature setting has been satisfied.
Remove the air handler access panel.
Is the air handler fan operating?
If the fan isn't working see if you can listen closely if it is humming, or can touch the motor to see if it is hot.
If it is humming and has a bad capacitor, you can tell this without having an electrical tester by spinning the fan wheel by hand.
Be very careful... making sure your hand won't get cut by the fan wheel spinning when it starts up.
If the fan spins and picks up full speed, replace the defective fan capacitor.
It is the shiny silver metallic cylindrical object with electrical wires attached to it.
Make sure you write down where those wires attach and turn the power off before removal as they carry 240 volts to the fan motor.
If you find that the fan wheel doesn't turn freely when you try to spin it by hand, the bearings have seized and you will need to find another fan motor of the same size, shaft length , speed , and horsepower to replace the defective motor.
Keep in mind that a humming sound in the air handler COULD be from the transformer instead of the fan motor.
The transformer is a black cube shaped device with electrical wires attached to it.
If the 24 volt transformer goes bad, your thermostat will not function and nothing will come on.

My haier AC doesn't blow air. The green light does

Try to turn blower fan by hand to see if it turns freely, Place fan on highest speed try to spin by hand on highest speed , if it works you may need a new capacitor for fan motor if not try and jumper fan switch to see if it runs .

Nordyne E2EB-017HA air handler blower won't turn on unless I hit the housing. I can turn the fan easily by hand.

Very carefully give the blower wheel a spin and see if the thing takes off and spins. If so, you need to replace the capacitor on the indoor blower. It gives it the "boost" it needs to get going

I have a Ruud heat pump/air conditioner. The out side fan and unit works fine and cools fine but now the inside fan that blows the cool air in will not turn on. We can turn the fan with our hand so I don't...

You didn't mention if you checked for 115 volts at the power supply to the air handler. The unit outside has its own power supply. A lot of times the switch that is on the wall doesn't like to work after its been turned off and back on for service, also check the blower door safety switch. If the blower door hasn't been put back in place properly and snugly it will kill power to the whole air handler. Hope this helps. Good luck

I have a Bryant Model 340MAV and the airconditioning fan is loud when running but seems to operating fine otherwise..fan is running and cooling great..the oustide coil was replaced in April. Please advise

Hi,
Sounds like the motor is going bad in the air handler/furnace now...
Open up the blower compartment and spin the blower by hand with the power off...you should be able to hear if the bearings are rough or if the blower is hitting something... then you will know what you need to fix...

RUUD UBHA-14 J11SFJA air handler. The fan (blower) doesn?t runs

Absolutely, however, you want to properly diagnose the reason why the fan is not running. It could be a less expensive part than the fan motor itself.
First, check to see if you have the proper voltage going to the motor. I believe your motor requires 240volts ac. If you do not have 240 volts, you have a control problem.......either the thermostat is failing to close R & G or your blower relay may have failed to close the contacts necessary for your fan to operate.
If you have the voltage, then you want try spinning the blower wheel with your hand. Does it spin freely? Is the motor warm/hot? If so, turn everything off for an hour or so. As soon as your energize it, try spinning the motor with your hand again.....if it spins freely with no resistance and then starts running by itself, the problem is the run capacitor (approx $20.00 depending on where you purchase it from). If there is resistance when you try to spin it, the problem is most likely with the bearings and you will need to replace the motor.......if you have to replace the motor, go ahead and replace the capacitor also, making sure it is properly "matched" with your new motor.

I hope you find this to be very helpful to you, moving forward. :-)

The outside unit is running, but the inside air handler unit does not work? The blower is not working, but you can hear a clicking noise.

turn the power off to the indoor unit and see if you can spin the fan by hand. the bearings may be locked in the motor. if so you need to replace your blower motor. let me know what you find out

My coleman 3 ton heat pump blows very little air

Check the blower capacitor and blower speed, you probably have a 3 or 4 speed motor make sure it's on medium high or high speed.
If these are ok then shut the power off to the indoor unit and pull the blower housing out so you can see the blower wheel, make sure it's clean and very carefully spin the wheel to see if it spins freely keep hands away from wheel while it's spinning, if it doesn't then the bearings are bad and you need to replace the motor.

Air Handler Blower Unit Humming

More then likely it's the transformer. It may be getting weak. I've seen them hum/vibrate almost new and last for years. It's more an annoyance than anything.
