SOURCE: I have a Hitachi C8FB2 compound miter saw that the

there is always going to be some sparking between the BRUSHES and the commutator. if it is excessive and loud or is really heating up the housing, there could be a crack in one of the brushes, the brush might be chipped or unevenly worn, or the brush holder itself may be burned cracked, or otherwise need to be replaced. they may LOOK okay but need to be pulled out to really know for sure sometimes. there is a small set screw in the housing that holds the brushholder in place.

while this could be the problem with the electric brake, it is more likely that there is a wiring connection loose, broken or burned inside the motor housing. it could be the switch but i dont believe the brake circuit runs through the switch on this model.

SOURCE: how do i remove (and replace) the carbon brushes

After removing the black brush caps, take compressed air and blow any debris out. Next take a pair of needle nose pliers and gently pull the brush,,, ( you can use a moderate force). If it does not pull out you may need to remove the black vent cover adjacent and use a tiny screwdriver between the brush and the armature, as there may be a slight burr on the brush. Good Luck.

There are a few things that can cause this:
1) Check the brushes - make sure they are not severely worn and make sure they travel freely down the brush tube & contact the armature well.
2) If the brushes are OK the problem is most likely the switch. Tools with a brake have a 2 pole switch - one set will be normally open and one set will be normally closed (Most switches have a diagram printed on them) Disconnect the leads (keeping track of where you removed them) and using a continuity tester check the switch - you should get a reading between the normally closed contacts and lose it when you pull the trigger. Most likely you will find you are not getting a reading on the normally closed side and that would be your culprit. Hitachi C12RSH 12 Sliding Dual Compound Miter Saw Parts

How do I replace the linear ball bearing on a c8fb2 Hitachi miter saw

Its not too difficult:
1) There are 2 retainer pins located on the rear slide support (#4 on breakdown) - carefully drive these out with a punch - be careful to support the bracket so you don't break it.
2) remove the rear support and slide the saw head and arms out of the bearing.
3) Remove the 2 covers (front and rear) over the bearing
4) loosen the allen head set screw on the housing that holds the bearing in place
5) using a large socket and a plastic hammer - gently tap out the old bearing.
Reverse process to replace.
Do not use grease or oil on the bearing or slides - use a pure, clear silicone spray that dries completely - grease & oil attract & hold dirt and debris and will cause bearing failure.

My hitachi c8fb2 saw won't turn off

It sounds like your switch has a short circuit. It is quite unusual for this to happen and due to the nature of the fault I would highly advise not using the saw until it is sorted. If you are uneasy about working on the electrical parts of this you can find your nearest service agent on their website. Hitachi service page, put ypur postcode in the box on the top right.

My husband lost the safety key for our Hitachi Table Saw Model Number C10FR. This saw is discontinued and the customer service department at Hitachi will not return phone calls or E mails. Can anyone...

I found Hitachi customer service to be quite helpful in replacing my safety switch for my C10RA2 table saw. My C10RA2 has a fixed metal stand, not the folding stand, and the part number for the red safety switch or key is 531-992R, while the switch itself is part number 314-459. If you have the folding stand the part number for the switch is 321-620 and the safety key is 321-621. Hitachi customer service in US: 1-800-706-7337. I am going to buy two or three! Almost lost a table saw over a cheap plastic part.
