Question about Yahoo Mail

1 Answer

I am unable to click on any link from the yahoo web page and access anything it just times out or takes a long time to time out. I am using Vista, IE 8.00 from a laptop. I can't search, get to email and login or anything from yahoo.com. I also tried with another browser Firefox 3.0 and same thing happens. It appears to be yahoo portle. I don't have a problem with my desktop or other laptop with yahoo.

What about other websites on your laptop? I am not currently having a problem w/yahoo and firefox. Try disabling your firewall/securuty to test yahoo.com.

Yahoo messenger has stopped working. unable to gain access

Yahoo messenger relies on IE to operate it even if you have another browser set as default, so keep your IE up to date.

Make sure all your support software is up to date - this is necessary to run Messenger but not downloaded with it

Again, choose the version for IE if given the option
Use the links on this page to check and update
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messeng...

After updating check you do not have old versions of Flashplayer, Shockwaveplayer and Java running alongside the latest - this can cause conflicts
You will have 2 versions if you have 2 browsers so be careful not to delete them.
Start / control panel / programs
delete any old versions

If you have Vista check for a solution in your Control Panel > Classic View >> Problem reports and solutions

No txt showing on my chat log, no access to archives and no access to web cam and no txt showing in my offline messages

The first thing to check is to make sure you have scripting enabled in Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer is integrated into Yahoo Messenger so things that go wrong with IE can affect Yahoo Messenger. Here is the yahoo help page about that: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messeng...

2) In the Start Menu click on Run. Type, without the quotes, "regsvr32 jscript.dll" and then click OK. Next, repeat the process but this time type in the Run box "regsvr32 vbscript.dll" and click OK. Please note, if you are using Windows Vista temporarily disable the User Account Control (UAC). You can easily turn it back on. On the Control Panel (Category View) choose User Accounts and Family Safety, next choose User Accounts, and then click Turn User Account Control on or off.

3) If the above does not fix your problem and you are using Windows XP, you can update your Windows Script to version 5.7. In my experience helping others, this is the step that has helped the most people. Exit all browser windows and chat programs including Yahoo Messenger before installing. run registry cleaner reginout to easily fix it

Hi sunu64 - You are correct, it could just be an issue with the site itself and giving it time will fix the problem. Here are some other things to try:
  • Reset your modem or router
  • Delete your browsing history
  • Run IE with no add-ons - Click Start

Hello candle32, I just tried to load yahoo mail on IE6 for the first time and I had to install flash player. You can make sure that is installed by going to the following link: If the graphic displays then it is installed correctly. If not there should be an option to install it to your computer. Once installed try loading Yahoo mail again. Another option would be to download a different browser such as Firefox or Chrome to test them for Yahoo mail functionality. Post a reply with your results if this solution doesn't work. Thanks!

Yahoo mail site slow when using IE

Hi,
It looks as if you are using older version of IE.
Download IE 8 and see the improvement in speeds.

Or if you still need a faster browser, download Opera web browser.

IE unable to open web pages

The version of IE does not matter.

Click "START"
Click "RUN"
Enter 'cmd' and press ENTER.
Enter 'ping www.yahoo.com' and press ENTER.
Do you get output like:

Reply from 209.131.36.158: bytes=32 time=81ms TTL=56
Reply from 209.131.36.158: bytes=32 time=37ms TTL=56
Reply from 209.131.36.158: bytes=32 time=44ms TTL=56
Reply from 209.131.36.158: bytes=32 time=61ms TTL=56
Ping statistics for 209.131.36.158:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

If so, then your Internet connection is working fine.
If not, then you have no Internet connection.

Not able to logg into yahoo mail at all!

Logging into Yahoo mail results in "opening page about: blank" IE browser hang.
This is not caused by a virus, trojan, spyware or anything like that! Yahoo have been making changes to the appearance of their home page and also their e-mail, you've probably seen the new choices.
As a result, the screen resolution of 800 x 600 on many PCs will no-longer allow you to sign in without the "opening page about: blank" IE browser hanging problem.
Try changing your screen resolution to 1024 x 768, that should cure it!
Right click on desktop / Properties / Settings and move slider to 1024 x 768
