Re: power supply 220v

Most laptops dont have that switch. You need a power adapter, to do the work for you. Or just get a generic adapter, to plug your power brick into.

What is the power output of ac dc adapter in jensen jta 460? Can this adaptor be changed with 220volt ac dc adapter with required dc output?

For Any Adapter:
As long as the Voltage and Power output of the power supply (wall outlet or other) matches the input requirements for the adapter whether 110V or enough amp output; and
IFF the dc output of the adapter is exactly the same voltage and has for amps at a minimum matches the maximum amperage requirement for the input of the device, any of them will work, as long as it has the right connector with the correct polarity needed for the device!

Or, in other words...

Supply Output V = Adapter Input V
Adapter Output V = Device V
Adapter Output A(min) >= Device A(max)

I will be in Asia where the power is 220. Will I need a transformer/converter to use my laptop? My digital camera says it will work on 110 or 220 and a tranformer will damage the camera. Is this the...

The power cord for your laptop is a transformer. However, is is in all likelihood, meant for use in the U.S. only and does not have a selector for 220v. You will need an power cord that is meant to work with 220v. I'm sure there is one available for your laptop. Just make sure that when you purchase it, that the output is rated the same as the one you use now and you will have no problems.

No power - lights no fan

  1. Verify that the power supply voltage switch is set correctly. If the input voltage for the power supply does not match the correct setting for your country, your computer may not power on at all.

  2. Check for disconnected computer power cable connections. A loose or unplugged power cable is one of the top reasons why a computer doesn't turn on.

  3. Perform a "lamp test" to verify power is being provided from the wall. Your computer isn't going to turn on if it's not getting power so you need to make sure that the power source is working properly.

  4. Test your power supply. At this point in your troubleshooting, it's very likely that thepower supply unit in your computer is no longer working and should be replaced. You should however test it just to be sure. There's no reason to replace a working piece of hardware when testing it is fairly easy.

Replace your power supply if it fails your testing.

A friend from US gave me hp netbook-1103135- is it 110 or 220v please advise thanks

It most likely has a 110V plug on the power supply; however, all you have to do is buy the appropriate 220v cable for the power supply for your country, and it should work fine on 220V.
External power supplies are designed to use either 110v or 220v -- all you have to do is change the cable or use an adapter and you're good to go.

Does my ASUS N61JQ-X1 have a dual voltage switch for 110v to 220v and/or vice versa? I don't visibly see any.

notebooks or laptops do not have the switches it totally depends on ur adoptor ... if u are using 110 power the adoptor has to be capable of that and if 220 than too the adoptor should be capable , in the market now aday u get adoptors which handles multiple settings ... best way is call asus cust care and ask them if they have something for it or not if u want u can buy it from them or locally places like best buy and wal mart ... if u have purchsed it in US its bond to support 110... totally depending on the country wher u bought it

Our company issued this laptop for all field employees. We work out of vehicles 8-10 hrs a day- they have also given us 300w power inverters to use to keep the battery going. Several of us have had...

may be your invertor is rated at 110v and you are using the adaptor for 220v or the capacity of the invertor is not enough to run a computer like this one.

HP Pavilion dv9913cl Entertainment Notebook PC I want to know if this unit is able to be used on 220V power with just an adapter versus needing a transformer.

Check the power adapter, if it says 100~230V INPUT, it's fine to connect to 220V. If says just 90~120V, it cannot be connected to 220V.

Going from 110 to 220 v.

have a look at the top back side of the CPU , near the smps fan where power cable is inserted. here u can find a small square cutting with a slider inside. On careful look you will find 110V and 220V inscribed on it on either end. Only one marking is visible at a time. Select by sliding this switch.

Note: Many systems do not have this facility. In that case you have to replace the power supply(SMPS) inside the cabinet.
