LG VX5500 blank/white screen

I have a LG VX5500 and this morning my main screen turned white and I cannot see any incoming calls or anything else. Is there anything I can do?

    Taking the battery out for 5 minutes and resetting it did not work. How do I put it back to the factory settings?

    I have a LG VX5500 and my main screen has gone blank/white. I have tried taking the battery out for five minutes and then retarting but that did not work. Is there anything else i can do?

    Thank you for your help, but my phone does not have a SIM card. Am I out of luck?

Hello jrdibene,
I have had similar problem wiht my phone. it is common with flip phones.
the problem you might be having here is with your phone "flex".
Flex is a flexible cable that connects the screen with the lower keypad of your phone. after a prolong flipping of the phone, the flex cable breaks and your screen goes white.
You can confirm this by asking an experienced phone technician to open the phone and check the status of the flex. Though the cut on the flex might be a minor cut and if you try to adjust the joint, it might come on again. and if you have a broken flex, my advise will be that you get it changed by an experienced person who has the original part or else you will have multiple problems with your phone.

I'm sorry to inform you that there's no way to reset it to factory settings while the screen is while and you can't see the display.

However, you may try the steps below and it might work:

1. Power off the phone and remove the USIM
2. Power on the phone and ignore the SIM warning message
3. Press the following keys *277634#*#
4. Select "Factory Reset" from the menu that appears.
5. After it has reset, power it off, replace the USIM, powerit back on and enjoy your shiny "new" phone!

This procedure may clear any problems that you are having with your LG VX5500 misbehaving, providing that the problem is software based (i.e. not a hardware fault). It is a reasonable first shot before calling CS or sending the phone off for repair.

There are a few other options that will appear also. Just be sure you really do want to use them, if you do.

Otherwise, you may bring your phone to the authorized repair center for possible firmware upgrade.

Disconnect battery and restart the phone after 5 minutes let the static go away
no if it comes back fine then reset to factory default settings

chances are you sat on it. the white screen means the internal lcd is cracked. not the outside. you will need a new phone or buy a new screen.

Lg km900 blank screen during an incoming call -


There is a little rectangle shape thing next to the lg logo on the top of the fone screen. If this is blocked by screen protector it will cause the phone to blank of during calls. Its a power saver that blanks the phone when its near your face. Try it. Take off the screen protector & make a call. Then place your finger over the little thing & the screen goes blank. Just cut a lil space in the screen protector & that will fix the problem

LG VX5500 - when I power on the internal screen


Try taking battery out with phone on. Leave Battery out for at least a minute and put back in. If still white and phone is under a year old, contact service provider. They usually have a one year warranty if phone is under a year with no physical damage. If phone is a refurbished phone you may only have 60 to 90 days of warranty.

Same thing happened to my LG5500. It was a manufactures problem. They sent me a new phone,free of charge.

When i open my phone the main screen is all messed up with different colors and i can't see anything. I can still recieve calls and texts, but the screen is just messed up and crazy so i can't see what i'm...


This could be an LCD or program problem. Try the following:

1. Turn off the phone and remove the battery.
2. Leave the battery out for about 15 minutes.
3. Put the battery back and turn the phone back on.

If you get the same problem, you need to contact the manufacturer and have them check the phone. They may need to replace the LCD or they just need to re-flash the firmware of it.

Verizon -LG VX5500- screen display problem


If the phone will do other things like ring when called, or seem to respond when you press buttons, then the lcd is either bad or the connector is loose. But if the phone will not ring when called and doesn't seem to respond to pressing buttons, then there is something wrong with the phone itself. Always try taking out the battery if you haven't already.
