Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Hi I created a 9.8M document last year in Quark 6.5. I have upgraded to 7.01 and am trying to open this same document. When I click on it, the colored bar appears, it gets to the halfway mark and then stops opening and the rainbow ball just keeps spinning. All of the other files I created last year are fine, I am now on a brand new Mac book pro. Thanks

How i can see the qxd extension file

this is Quark Express file. So to view this file, you can use it.

You can download a trial version here--http://8.quark.com/evaluation.html

You can create a PDF file from a Quark document using Acrobat. The desktop version of Acrobat comes with Acrobat Distiller which can convert the Quark file to PDF.

According to the Adobe Create PDF Online web site (http://createpdf.adobe.com/index.pl), native Quark (qxd) files do not appear to be supported for online conversion. However, the service does support PostScript (.ps) files. If you can save your Quark file as a PostScript file, then you can use the Create PDF Online service.

Hope this helps.

I downloaded a file to my desktop from my server using Fetch last week. It's a Quark file and it opened just fine. Trashed it since I didn't need it. Now client wants to make changes so I downloaded the...

The file extension for your quark file is not being recognized as belonging to any any application installed on your computer or the file extension was lost when you transferred the file (in which case, you can rename the file and put the file extension back on, e.g. change MyFile to MyFile.qxp).

I'm assuming that you still have Quark installed on the computer you are trying to open the file on. If not, you should install it, which will resolve the problem.

You can try repairing an existing installation: Look in your control panel for programs installed on your computer. Click on the Quark installation to see if a change or repair option is shown for it. If so, attempt a repair, which may solve the problem.

Want to convert Quark 7.3 file to Quark 4.1 so it can be read by InDesign.

Thats not possible.
QuarkXPress 7 would allow you to downsave to a QuarkXPress 6 document but not to QuarkXPress 4.

you would have to open the document in QuarkXPress 6 then save to version 5, then open the same in QuarkXPress 5 and then downsave to 4

Quark 7.01 crases when creating a PDF

In this case, I would suggest you to try doing a Thumbnail drag for one of those documents and then check the results.

The steps to be followed to do a thumbnail drag is mentioned at the below mentioned link:-

Once done, create a pdf and then check if it still crashes

How do I produce a quark file with measurements

Use the control Palette at the bottom of the screen. Use the open arrow, set your origin, and click on the item you want to know about. At the bottom of the screen in a long thin rectangular palette is everything you need to know about that image in regards to placement and position.
