Re: pass word

This is a free program called Ophcrack.  Download it, burn it to a CD, put it in your CD drive and reboot.  It will read the password for you.  Make sure you burn it as an iso image and not just save it to a CD.  If you don't know how to do that, read this link:

It doesnt turn on but when i plug the adaptor charger the orange light blinks. but theres no display on the screen

I need to know how this thing behaves:

unplug the laptop from your ac adapter. remove battery. plug in your ac adapter - now the power LED should show a green. now if you turn it on, and the power LED blinks orange (amber) - you have a bad motherboard.

these are older units (the 4300's are 600mhz, 650mhz, and 700mhz for 12", 14", AND 15" screens, respectively). Your best bet is to buy something comparable on eBay, and do the swap yourself. These systems (and motherboards) have been spectacularly reliable, and used, incomplete systems are practically being given away on eBay for a pittance... That's how I'd approach it.

MY toshiba 4300 was working untill i tried to install internet explorer 8 then i prompted me to shut down and ever since then when i turn it on a blue screen pops up saying boot volume or somthing i need...

Hi, yes. Download a program called ERD Commander 2008 or 2005 and make a bootable CD. I think you will download an ISO so you need Nero to burn it on a disk. Then boot from it (on the toshiba 4300) and once you are using the ERD commander, look for system restore, and it's the same as the Windows system restore. Choose a day before you downloaded the Internet Explorer and see if it works. I hope this helps. Don't forget to rate and provide positive feedback for our fast-free response today. Thank you :D

Toshiba sat pro 4300 notebook

The screen is easy to replace, I suggest you do it yourself. Bellow are a couple of links that will help. Looks like the screen will run approx $150. There is one listed on Ebay now that is up for bid, you may be able to get this one cheaper. If you decide to take it to a shop to have it replaced you can add another $50 minimum.,toshiba.shtml

Hi Ed;

This is issue has resolution as it has been published on Toshiba's Official Support Website. It seems you need to go to an Authorized Toshiba Center. They have a special tool to re-flash your BIOS and it will resolve the issue. I am adding the original text and link for the solution below

The computer models listed above may display a "Password =" prompt when the computer is turned on, even though no power-on password has been set. If this happens, there is no password that will satisfy the password request. If the computer is turned off and back on again, it is very likely that the same password prompt will appear. The computer will be unusable until this problem is fixed.
If the problem has not happened yet, you can prevent it from happening in the future by upgrading the BIOS to the newest version.
The occurrence of this problem on any particular computer is unpredictable -- it may never happen, but it could happen any time that the computer is turned on. If this problem does occur, it will be necessary to send the computer to a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider, who will fix the problem at no charge to you.

If this problem has not yet occurred on your computer, then click the following link to download and install BIOS version 4.00. This BIOS displays a power-on password prompt only when a power-on password has actually been set via the BIOS Setup program.
You may also browse for a newer version of the computer's BIOS at
For more help, see Support Bulletin 98081213 Obtaining downloads and support docs from the Toshiba Support website.
If the problem has already occurred on your computer, then please make arrangements with a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider to have this problem fixed at no charge. To locate a Toshiba Authorized Service Provider (ASP), please visit Toshiba's Global ASP Locator at

Toshiba satellite goes dead

Assuming this is not hibernating and your harddrive is not set to shutdown after a certain idle time, it could be this is an overheating problem. Check that the extraction vents are'nt blocked and that the fan area is well ventillated. If necassary gently hoover around all ventillation slats. Some laptops have the ability for the user to turn off the fan for certain usage, just check in your management settings that it's turned on, unless you know it is on' and it cuts in or stays on.
