How to close an inground pool?

The only tool needed is a blower to hook up to the inlet lines to blow the water out of them.
you basically drain the pump and filter of the water and heater if you have one.

How do I drain the water from my Hayward heater for the winter

There should be a drain plug on the bottom of the header. This is common on most of Hayward's in-ground pool heaters. Since you did not give your model Number, I can't say 100%. You can also check Hayward's website for the manual and look under "winterization". you should be able to find your product manual here: Hope this helps. If you need further assistance post a reply in the comments, and don't hesitate to leave good thumb rating if you found this helpful. Thanks, and good Luck!

First year with my new Hayward H 250fd heater. Closing pool this weekend and live in Michigan so you understand our winters. What do I have to do other than opening the drain plug if anything.

Other than the drain you'll need to remove the pressure switch from its feeder tube and leave it hanging by its wires for the winter. Be sure the heater is level or tilted towards the header to allow all the water to drain out. More than a few people have lost a heat exchanger to freeze damage after draining it because the heater wasn't level and water remained in the low end of the tubes.

Ray Vac cleans only in deep end

Make sure that your automatic pool cleaner doesn't have an obstruction in the hose that might not immediately be visible. This could cause it to circulate in one end of the pool. Also, check the water pressure to ensure that it has enough force to travel the entire pool.

Alarm only goes off if something goes off in deep end

These pool alarms are designed so any time something breaks the surface of the water, the alarm is sounded. They are designed for movement in the entire pool. Make sure that your alarm is positioned properly so that it is not strictly monitoring the deep end of your pool.

Inground pool 80% filled but no sign of water in skimmer lines,or bottom drain lines

Hi there,

I'm not quite sure what your problem is.

There wouldn't be any water reaching the skimmers in an 80% full in ground pool.

The water level in the lines will be at the same level as it is in the pool.

Depending on the pump strength and distance from the pool, the current water level may not be high enough for it to self prime.

Again, If you could detail what the problem is I could address the specific issue.

Best regards

I need to drain my inground pool with a heyward pump the water level is down just past the skimmer, do I need to close a valve so the pool will continue to drain from the main drain in the deep end? or...

You can try this but you run the chance of loosing the prime and burning up the pump. if the water is below the skimmer your already further than you should be.
What you need to do is get a submercibal pump. You can usually rent one at one of the big home centers, (Home Depot, Lowes...) or a rental yard. This will cost twenty or thirty dollars and that is a lot cheaper than a new pump. Also if your planing on cleaning the pool it will pick it's own prime so you can wash and rinse the pool.

Same prob. ray vac circles bottom of deep end. tink2b3 suggested moving the gears? what does that mean?

Mabey the gears in the backup valve a small football in line about 18" from wall. Just pull it from the water if you have one that is about every one to two munites it should send a jet of water out the side of the backup valve for about ten or fifteen seconds. If it dosen't you need a new one . Quite often a more likliy problem is tight swivels your local pool store can ck these for you and the leingth of your hose should just make the far point of the pool so it streches the hose and pulls all the kinks and loops out. Your pool store can help you with much of this and they will check the whole unit if you bring it in to the store and will usually just charge for parts.

Wondering if a robo-kleen robotic pool cleaner can be used in an inground pool?

You will find it won't climb walls, but should clean just fine on the bottom area.
