Can you tell me if the Canon sd600 will act as a storage device for a MAC so I can transfer pictures from Iphoto to the camera?

Best way to download photos back to the camera from your mac is to use the software on the canon utitlty disc that came with the camera.. you can select photos to load into the camera from the computer with their software... good luck.

Hi,

Whhoat's your problem?how to transfer pictures from my canon power shot to my laptop computer

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as iPhoto on Mac or Windows Photo Gallery on Windows.

Panasonic Camcorder and my Mac - I can't download my videos to new apple mac iphoto or (image capture)

Simple fix.  This camera saves all the videos as .mod files.  But they're actually MPEG2 encoded.  If you rename them to something that ends with .mpg, then Quicktime will recognize them.

The camera isn't actually designed to work with a Mac.  From what I understand, you have to use a memory card reader to even transfer the files to a Mac.

I will email this to you as well.

How do i transfer my pictures to a mac

Assuming your using a USB cord to transfer, plug the cord into the mac and the other end into the camera. If you have iPhoto installed, click and open it. iPhoto should recognize the storage device and ast to import your images.

How do I import avi video from my powershot sd600 to a mac powerbook? photos go right to iphoto, but I cannot find a way to get the avi movies on the camera onto the mac...using memory in a big way. ...

iphoto is just for still photos. Use a card reader to download your videos to a folder you create on your desktop. Double click on the video and Quicktime will play it. You can use imovie to edit it.

It will not open iphoto on my mac osx

Get yourself a Card reader. Take the card out of the camera and plug it into the mac (Your printer may already have one built in) The card is a USB mass storage device and should pop up onto the desktop without bothering with the camera. iPhoto will not open automatically so just drag the card contents onto the iPhoto icon in the dock. It will then open up and transfer all the pictures automatically.
I haven't plugged my camera into the computer now for about 3 years.

Using a Mac, the cd does not seem to run to allow photo transfer

Usually iPhoto can handle most cameras to import photos. If your Mac doesn't have iPhoto, which is now part of iLife, you should be able to plug the camera in via the USB port and it will show up on your desktop as another storage device. You can drag the images from there and use Preview to view and even edit them.

Cannot transfer files from computer back to Canon Powershot A530

Your camera is designed to be a source of pictures, not a destination. If you want to copy pictures to a memory card, you need to use a card reader and not a camera.

iPhoto deals with still photographs. For videos, try using iMovie or some other video management program.

Can't download large movie files to iphoto : (

i found the answer to my own question above and thought i'd share.

rather than iphoto, you can use "image capture," which is software that comes standard with the mac.

-Turn on your camera, and connect it to your computer with the cable that came with it.
-Close iPhoto if it opens automatically. Open Image Capture (Applications folder).
-Click Download Some to choose specific items to transfer, or click Download All to transfer all items.
If you click Download Some, choose the items to transfer, and click Download.

By default, Image Capture transfers still images to your Pictures folder, video files to your Movies folder, and music files to your Music folder. To choose another folder, choose Other from the Download To pop-up menu, then click Download Some or Download All.

If your computer has a SD card reader, you might be better off putting your memory card into your computer and just copying the data.

Have you made sure your iPhoto is up to date? Perhaps a new update caused this problem.. Maybe you should try an older version of the software. Also, you might want to try other software. (I think you are on a mac?), you might want to try the software that came with the camera, if it works on your computer.
