Question about Samsung SyncMaster 2253LW Monitor

1 Answer

VGA Will not connect

My VGA Cable on the Samsung SyncMaster 2253LW will not connect to my Mac, though it just started acting up. I tried everything I read but nothing will come up. When I change it to Digital it comes with a floating box that says Check Signal Cable, but when I click source it gives me a black screen with the power button blinking.

Have you checked if the SyncMaster is compatible with a Mac? I do not use Macs, so I do not know. In the old times you had to buy everything Apple. You could try looking for an adapter to convert VGA or Digital to Mac Video.

SOURCE: Monitor Blank screen,

Open the monitor, examine the circuit boards. Look for small components that look like small cans, these are capacitors. If you see any that look bulged on top, then your problem can probably be solved by replacing these. Check out the following sites;

Follow the directions and good luck!

What adaptor do i need to connect a new Mac Mini with HDMI input to an older SyncMaster 914v?

I assume you mean HDMI output. You'd need a 'HDMI Female to VGA Male' adapter or a 'HDMI Male to VGA Male' cable.

Such as:

I've no idea if that site is reputable or not, just did a search on Google.

My screen has horizontal lines apprearing in gray on a black back it has started after 6 months of use... and its has become anoying... could it be the wire?

1. this may be a internal loose ribbon cable or the VGA cable it self.
In any case you will have to have it looked at.
2. Check the pins on the connector end of the monitor. make sure none are bent or broken or loose.
Make sure the cable is secured to the video card.
4. Make sure you have the video card settings to the proper resolution. They could have changed.
If the monitor is 3 yrs old or more and it may need driver updates. check the manufacturers site to see. Via model number.

The Digital wire on the moniter for Samsung Syncmaster 2253 LW is not working anymore. Right now i have to use the old style moniter plugs.

If the old style connector (VGA) is working, you can use that. For single monitors under 24" wide, the difference is not noticeable.
