Question about Dell 1600n All-In-One Laser Printer

Paper jams this is my primary problem with the 1600n all in one printer. The standard multipurpose paper in the paper tray gets jammed every time it is pulled in through the printer. what can be done? Also, the rollers to pull paper inside the top (for faxing/scanning) gets stuck most of the time.....it pulls half way then stops - leaving the paper jammed.

Often jammed after a few pages into an auto-feeder scan.

Solution:

1. Remove the roller assembly including the metal bar from the machine. You need to release the locking key (light blue) first.
2. Spray 409 cleaning solution on a paper towel; wipe on surface of the two rubber rollers along their axes.

Yeah, the rollers that the warning sign says not to touch.

I guess the warning sign is to prevent you from contaminating the surface. But if it is already contaminated, then the 407 will decontaminate it.

It sounds like you'll need new feed rollers.  I could find some part #s for you if you felt confident replacing them yourself.

Red light is constantly blinking and when try to print, there is always a paper jam


Every time there is paper jam, the printer knows the job is not completed and hence tries to re-print after the paper is removed and cover is shut.

Clear the print job from computer.
Power off the printer and Clear the paper jam (if any)
I would try to use different tray. The paper pickup roller in one path may be worn out.
eg Sheet feeder or multipurpose tray.
Load paper in new tray
Set the application to use new tray

Ensure you sue the right thickness (gsm) of the paper. Quality of paper is crucial. Too thin; too thick can affect functioning.

A paper has struck in printer so its not printing how to remove the paper


1) Open the top cover
2) Remove the toner cartridge
3) Remove any paper from the multipurpose tray
4) If you can see the LEADING EDGE of the jammed paper slowly pull it out.
This may be easiest from either the multipurpose tray side or from under the toner cartridge
5) If you can see the TRAIL EDGE of the jammed paper slowly push it through the printer until it comes out

Frequent paper jams on a Dell 1600n AIO, sometimes doesn't grab the paper from the tray (not really a jam, just need to open and close tray), sometimes gets caught halfway through the path -- need to open...


This could be caused from the papers you use at times(weight). Call on a Dell representative to check it out for you if you bought it from a Dell shop.

Check your manual feed tray. The printer may have a print job in memory that's pointing there.

Document Jam in Dell 1600n


The Automatic Document Feed (ADF) has a white rubber pad that wears out. You can find it by opening the ADF cover and removing the roller bar. Under that is the white rubber pad. Pinch the sides together and the assembley comes out. Contact Dell for the replacement. You may also refer to the Dell 1600n Owners Manual for instructions.

Dell s2500 printer - multipurpose feeder not taking paper - never been used


I had the same problem and resorted to making sure that there were several envelopes in the tray -- and hand feeding them. I suspect we both have a pickup roller problem, which is typical of the printer, and is the source of a lot of phantom jams.
