Question about Senco & Frame Pro 601 Framing Nailer

My 601 piston sticks to the plastic part on the head....I have to take it off free the piston works fine for awhile than does it again

Are you oiling the unit? Do you have water traps on the compressor?

    yes to both found out today that it sticks only when you remove air hose and plug it back in it is stuck free it and lasts all day until you disconnect air line

Is there a way to unstick the piston?


Use cutting oil (ATF Fluid works well) and let it soak overnight, if that doesn't free it you need to remove and rebuild the engine. You can (after waiting for the oil to work) try a wooden dowel that will fit in the spark plug hole and then hit the dowel to try and free the sticking piston, use finis, tap with only moderate force repeated times.

Blue smoke after being driven for awhile


if you can then smell the smoke. if it smells of petrol you will need a tune on your car ( getting too much petrol ). if it has no smell or very faint then it could be your head gasket. (water getting to the head causing steam ) worst case would be piston rings expanding through heat and letting oil through ( smell of oil burning ) check oil filler cap and dip stick for white gunk/check exhaust for water dripping out. these are head gasket signs

Senco 601 plunger sticks when unplugging air line


The piston stop in the head is supposed to grab and hold the piston - I don't believe that is your issue. The problem I think you are experiencing is the head valve not moving freely up and down. There is a funny looking spring under the head valve to push it back - often these get weak or broken causing the head valve to jam.http://senco.com/Documents/Guides/FP601_PC.pdf

I would purchase the repair kit #YK0360 which includes this spring - clean and lubricate the tool as you reassemble.

I recently got my 75 tc 185 out of storage and it is set up. Pulled off head and penetrating oil goes by piston. Any ideas on ho0w to free it. Thanks Randy


Pour break fluid in there let it set awhile, poor more in there, it will eat all the corrosion or rust from the rings and piston walls. Eventually freeing it up, hope this helps you.

Piston sticking wont release the brake properly where can i get a new piston and seals


If you drive a short distance and the wheel is locking up. You can release the pressure by opening up the bleeder valve on the wheel. This should allow you to drive back to your starting point before it locks up again. The problem in in the master cylinder on the handlebar. If you take off the cover. put a wad of lint free cloth in the reservoir to soak up fluid. Do not spill on paint or plastic parts, cover bike with plastic. You will see a large hole the fluid uses to feed the piston. Now look more closely and you will see a tiny pin hole that returns the fluid back to the reservoir. This is plugged . Clean this pin hole with a piece of wire ( one wire cut from a wire brush will do ). Fill and bleed the system and your problem should be solved. If the bike is old you should replace all the rubber seals in the master cylinder and wheel cylinder (You probably don't need them.)

Was in storage awhile. was working fine than air from trigger.


you need to take off the cap,and check the head valve it may have got stuck, you need to free, you can try this there is a vent on the cap take it off and in the screw hole put a round punch in the hole and tap the round flat punch with a hammer,clean and re-lube with air tool oil,you may need to take out the trigger their is a ring on the valve stem that breaks a lot on N80CB tools,you will see it ,it will be broken, check other rings, hope this helps.

Framepro 601. Works fine until air is disconnected then reconnected again, then it won't shoot and just discharges out the top 'vent' (not the exhaust). Some kind of safety lock is sticking?


sounds like lack of lubrication. Lack of lubrication builds up crud inside. Take the 4 Cap screws off the top of the gun (pay attention to how stuff comes out or you screwed). Carefully, turn the gun over and let the piston fall out. Now you can wipe some of the gunk out of the cylinder. Put it all back together, put about 10 drops of pneumatic tool oil in the air input fitting and spray up the nose of the gun with WD40 or some type of dry lube.
This should take care of it

Nails won't shoot


18 guage nailer has a very thin driver and plastic cylinder which bends or breaks easily. Remove the head noting all the parts in the head and remove the piston which should be at the top of the cylinder. Check for broken or bent shaft. Most likely broken and jammed in cylinder. Parts are not expensive. Check WWW.toolpartsdirect.com for diagram and parts
