Check that you are trying to charge the correct batteries. . The come in 2 types ni- cad and li ion. Most battery chargers will not charge both types because of the different charging requirements.

Testimonial: "The charger has a label says it will work with both so not helpful."

  • Bill Boyd Jan 07, 2017

    your reply is helpful in that you do not understand if the charger will charge both types but is not doing so then it should be in the trash can

SOURCE: red and green flashing lights on 18v lxt charger

Batteries don't always look degraded but if they've been in use for a while or have a bad cell, they will show up bad on the charger and it won't charge them. The only way to test the batteries is to try to charge them on another charger. If the batteries show defective on another charger, they are bad and you'll have to replace them. Also try to charge some batteries you know to be good on your charger to see if it's the problem. If your batteries charge on another charger, your current charger is bad and they don't have any replaceable parts in them so you'd be looking at replacing it.

No, batteries age even if not being used.

Red light flashing on charger

A red light indicates the charger is charging the battery, an amber light means it has switched from fast rate charging to trickle to keep the battery topped off, and green would mean the battery is completely charged. But don't be fooled waiting for green, many times the charger will only be on green for a moment before changing to amber and keeping the battery topped off.

Flashing can be a sign of a problem on some chargers.

A rapid flashing red can on some chargers indicate a bad or shorted battery, or a bad battery contact in the charger itself. If in question, try a different battery on the charger or compare with another charger to determine if the blinking is normal.

Best regards.

Faullty makita DC1804T charger red lights keeps flashig and wont turn green.

I think if you have a battery that is pretty much dead, the Makita charger will never fully charge it and so it blinks. My newer battery charged up in 1/2 an hour but my old-as-the-hills one just keeps on blinking. I removed it and it works. It never really held a charge long though, for years now. It would be nice if the charger had some kind of manual telling you what all those universal symbols(I don't know who's universe they're talking about) mean.

Will the light turn green on the ht1000 charger when the battery is charged? how long does it take?

It depends on the type of charger, a rapid-charger would charge a battery in one hour or less and the green light would come on when battery fully charged. A slow charger will take up to 16 hours to charge a battery and has red light only.

Green and red light comes on when i put battery in charger what does that mean?

Here is the manual:
http://toolboyworld.com/eBay/Ryobi_P120/P120_566_eng.pdf

Red = quick charge
yellow = evaluating
green = charged

CHARGING A COOL BATTERY PACK
If battery pack is within normal temperature range, the red LED on charger will come on.

Red LED should remain on for approximately 1 hour then the green LED will come on. Green LED on indicates battery pack is fully charged and charger is in maintenance charge mode.

The green light that indicates charge keeps flashing red and green alternatively even when the battery is fully charged

That is an indication of an internal failure of the battery (Bad cell etc). It may well remain functional, but the only way to resolve is a replacement battery
