There should be a small valued cap in the primary side (22ufd?) at 250V. Check that. Also, look for other small caps int he range of 2.2ufd with 200V ratings in the same general area.

Press Display / ' i ' button TV original remote and on-screen display will disappear.
I repeat, you need Sony TV original remote to do so, universal remotes do not have such button.

The power went out while watching my Sony TV KV-32V16. I tried to turn it back on with no success. When I push the power button I hear a click, but the TV does not come on. How do I repair.

Hello,

The problem is from the power panel of the television. It got burnt due to the voltage that hit the panel.

Mostly, it's a capacitor that gets burnt on the panel, so what you have to do is, open up the television with the appropriate screwdrivers and locate the power panel, it is attached to the main cord that is connected to the power supply.

Assess the panel, and check for the burnt capacitor that is on the panel, or you can as well replace them power panel.

After doing this, your television will be in good condition once again.

Take care and good luck

TV won't power up after surge

Try this: unplug the set and wait about 10 or 20 minutes. This is to make sure that the main power supply filter caps completely discharge. Look on the power supply board, close to where the AC cord attaches to the board. Look for a white resistor labeled "0.1 OHM" (the symbol for OHM, like an upside-down U) and measure it with your ohm meter. If it is open then your switching transistors in the main power supply are most certainly shorted. Older sets had 2 separate transistors on little heat sinks labeled "C4834", then they switched to 2 transistors in one package labeled "MX0841" or "MX0842", and then some sets went to two separate MOSFET transistors. Measure those parts and post your results and we will guide you from there.

No power

Most likely that open 5.6 Ohm resistor is in the power supply, is it a fairly large squarish resistor? If so just replace it and try the set again. I think it's a ballast resistor that has opened up and this can happen with age especially if it was not perfect to begin with.

Try replacing it, I bet it will fix the problem...

No picture, sound and/or stanby indicator light...dead!

Loss of low voltage supply has happened. This regulates the ability of the set to sense the remote as well as the front panel switches. Could be anything from open T1 secondary to a regulation problem; i.e. excess drop from defective component....accordianman

You still have something open in power supply. Look for a fuse resistor or bad relay.

Sep 23, 2007 | Sony KV-27S22 27" TV

1 Answer

No power.

Usually, in those Sony sets, a crack developes on a small transformer in the horizontal drive circuit, which causes the horizontal output transistor to short. This immediately shorts out the switching transistors in the power supply and blows the Sony 0.1 ohm resistor fuse. A shorted flyback (high voltage) transformer will also have the same result. The power supply does NOT need to be replaced. The parts should be replaced, the flyback checked and the board resoldered by a qualified tech familiar with Sony sets.

Spounds like the b+ feed filter capacitor off the flyback that supplys voltage to the three drive transistors on the crt board is bad.
