Question about Philips 20DV6942 20 in. TV/DVD Combo

Tv's dead WHen I try to power my tv, nothing happens. Tv was left plugged for a week in my cottage and now refuse to power up; not even the led will come on. I opened the back cover and checked the fuse inside; it is ok. The power switch seems to work since I hear the click when it is pushed down, however I did not check continuity. Now I suspect it could maybe due to some relay not closing in the power circuit. Unfortunately without a scematic it is hard to follow the parts in the tv. Any help ?

55" led ,replaced the power supply a couple months ago, tv has been working properly until a week ago, now seems as though the power supply is going out again.could there be something causing this.

Hello Geoff Bowen,

Industry standard is now pretty cheesy capacitors...
(the reason not to feel persecuted until number three fails!!

but yes... if you have your set in the sun-light or poorly ventilated... any increased heat will cause the caps to fail MORE QUICKLY.

(always use a wrist band on any board you care about)

But by the time that happens you will have already figured out
to send your old boards for repair... or better...
Started your own cottage industry

(these things are popping like POP-CORN).

Even Amazon has cap "kits" and replacement boards.

Sharp LC40LE600E wont turn on

Had exact same symptoms as Keran. Turned out to be my daughter had turned the TV off with the other power switch which is a button on the right hand side of the set - we always use the rocker switch on the left hand side and had forgotten about the button. Turned the rocker switch on, then the button and it was back to normal.

When I use the remote to turn the television on, nothing happens.

This problems happen to all LCD and Plasma tvs.In to 1 or 2 maybe 3 to 4 years old in used. The power supply board have these componnents parts call the capacitors,it will started to bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top. These capacitors are leaking gases and it dead. The tv will not power up and the LED power lite indicator start continuous flashing LED light.U know basic electronic's and soldering?Take the tv aparts where the power cord plug into it that ur power supply board.Searches all around the power supply board and it supporting boards, replaced all those dead gas leakage capacitors.Ur tv will power up normal again and work.Or Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Tv won't turn on

I had a similar problem when there was a power outage or the lights went briefly out. I unplugged the TV and left it for a few days/weeks and then plugged it in and the TV worked. I think newer TVs should be treated like a home computer and put them on surge protectors.

SONY WEGA KV27FS120 WON'T TURN ON, LED BLINKS A FEW TIMES

I don't know if this will help anyone else, but I sure hope it will. I had a similar problem with TWO of the three Sony 24" TVs I had bought together. TV#1 konked out a month ago; TV#2 messed up last week. So I called the Sony Service Center, and this very nice guy told me that a lot of times this problem occurs because the TV isn't plugged directly into the wall (most people plug theirs into a power strip/surge protector). When it happened to TV1, we hadn't been using TV2 so we just traded their locations and the "bad" one sat there waiting to be thrown out...and sat and sat and sat. Well, I was pretty hot when it happened again a month later to TV2. The service center guy told me to unplug TV2 and replug it in the wall after about 1 minute and turn it on. Nothing happened. Then he told me to plug in TV1 and turn it on. I did, reluctantly. And it actually worked!! I don't know if anyone having this problem has a week to be without their TV, but the guy said sometimes it takes up to a week of sitting to get it to work right again. So I'm waiting a few more days before I try to plug in TV2 to see if it works again, but for now, at least I've got one TV back. Here's hoping you all have the same experience. And then I guess we'll have to decide whether to plug back into a power strip (mine was actually plugged into my cable TV's DVR machine) or into the wall.

Tv turns on, but when you turn it off it won't turn back on.

sounds like its a cold solder connection somewhere in the set or a capacitor thats bad in the power suppy.. These problems are the most dificult to troubleshoot unless they happen all the time.sorry I wish I could give you more info..
