Pull batteries out of the remote control and keep it that way, just to see if maybe power button on remote control is being pressed/faulty. Also check the auto turn-on option of your TV, it might be set to a specific time to power on/off. This would be noticable if TV is powering on at specific time of day.

I have a Sony wega old style tv and the standby

The reason that that TV does that is because it needs a new lamp there's a lamp that can be installed in that TV you can search Amazon for the part you need and that should correct the problem especially if you have sound and no video

Tv will come on and orange light is out, will stay on after 3-4 tries.

The reason the tv is turning itself off, because most TVs have a "Protection Mode" that turns the unit off when it detects a failed part inside the tv.
The most likely the tv has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board.

RCA Home Theater Premiere 36" TV comes on automatically

Only two possible reasons I can think of for this--

ONE: you have looked in the customer menu and there is no item listed as Timer?

TWO: Does THIS SET HAVE THE GUIDE PLUS LOGO ON THE FRONT OF THE SET? IF IT HAS THE GUIDE PLUS--YOU WILL FIND IT IN THE MENU ALSO---

LET me know if it has the guide plus feature and I can tell you how to end the problem--most of these the set will come on at the same odd time and usually with volume up high.

Green power light comes on, the turns right back off. No picture. Please help

I'm not sure what TV model you have. But, thing I can tell you is the most common problem.
Most of the time with flat panel TVs, the power supply for the screen fails. And the TV normally turns itself off to protect other parts in the TV from being damaged. Basically " Protection Mode".

You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself; then try again turning it on. If it doesn't work after that, it's time for the TV repair shop.

TV comes on and goes off by itself

In order to determine whether it is the TV itself or something in the room that is causing the problem, place an object in front of the infrared eye on the TV. This is usually a transparent red plastic window on the front of the TV somewhere. Verify that it is covered by trying (and hopefully failing) to use the remote. If the TV continues to turn itself on and off, then it is the TVs internal circuitry. If the behavior stops, then it is something in the room. One of the more surprising causes for behavior like this is sunlight hitting rotating ceiling fans -- the light reflects off the fan at just the right frequency to fool the TV. I mention this so you don't limit yourself to only thinking that it must be either the TV or the remote.
