Question about Jenn-Air JSD2695KES Side by Side Refrigerator
We smelled something "hot" in the kitchen this AM and want to force a defrost to see if we have something bad going on.
Check manual to see if there is a manual technique for activating the defrost timer cycle. If not, and you are in rush, remove back cover of freezer, and after unplugging unit use hair dryer to melt the ice built up on the evaporator.

I just paid a little over $300 to have this fixed and boy do I feel ripped off. The part is available online for about $50 (I was charged $140) and the repair guy was here for about 40 minutes ($120 in labor, $170 before the 30% new customer discount, and $55 to defrost the freezer. Anyway, hopefully you don't get ripped off like I did and now that you've listened to me gripe you can find the solution at the end of this post. If for some reason this site doesn't allow links look up part #
PS727531 or Auto Defrost Assembly. You will probably have to defrost your freezer first (which will solve your problem for a month or two). Here's what I learned about defrosting from watching the technician: Get lots of towels, if you have a drapery steamer or carpet steamer with furniture attachment it seems to go by much more quickly then when I used a hair dryer. Anyway, here's the Link. I don't mind paying for the work but I feel totally ripped off. Hopefully, this will help.

Remove the kick plate at the bottom, then you will see the head of a bolt this raises and lowers the wheels, I'm assuming your wheels are up turn bolt clockwise. Thier will be a bolt on each side. The wheels are contained inside of a sheetmetal housing. Once the wheels are down you will be able to roll it back and forth. Go to www.appliancehelponline.com enter your model # and it will bring up a diagram of your unit. The diagram needed is the one for the cabinet. Hope this helps.
