SOURCE: My Sears Craftsman 18 gauge brad nailer won't nail

Your driver is not returning. Depending on the model that you have there could be a couple of problems. The most likely is that your piston stop is crumbled and some of your seals are worn or damaged. Whether or not you can fix the nailer depends on if the parts are available from Sears Parts Dept. If you would like some more information about fixing your nailer please post which model it is that you are trying to fix and I can see if the parts are available. I will post the information back to you.

If gun firing but nails not being driven could be one of two basic problems:
1. Nail jammed in magazine not allowing nails to move up.
Empty magazine, does follower move to top of magazine. Push gun against work piece, does fan motor start? Yes - jam in magazine or lock out bar not operating. (this would allow nail un to fire when out of nails)
2. Piston/driver not returning fully after firing, hence driver blade on top of next nail instead of behind it. This could again be caused by a jammed nail or just a nail head. Another case of not returning is the combustion chamber not making a good seal, check O rings on framer (they are steel rings on bradders) it may just need a good clean it is surprising how dirty they can get and if not cleaned a build up of dirt could break a seal. If not been cleaned for a long time worth checking piston rings, worst case scenario dirt builds up around the rings and stick fully in requiring new piston if the rings will not come out.
Nail guns work on the principle that an explosion pushes the piston driver forcing a nail into the work piece, after the explosion a vacuum is created and it is this that 'sucks' the piston/driver back up the cylinder.

I need a piston stop for a craftsman finish nailer part number4573.00 sears states they are not being made anymore do other nail guns use the same part

I am not familiar with nail guns but if there is a place to put a piston stop, can you use a piece of rope instead? I have used rope to stop the piston on chainsaws I have fixed where my piston stop tools wouldn't work

Craftsman evolv braid nailer leaks air around the trigger when i try to nail. it does not nail sears no. 00915206000 mfg no. 42081 (for kit) on gun model:6G28/F50

Air leaking from trigger when trying to nail indicates that the headvalve is stuck or headvalve orings are dry and allowing air to pass. Remove the head and pull out the headvalve piston. Examine orings for cuts or broken (replace as needed if orings worn and cannot make seal). If headvalve was stuck/dry, lube with plenty of silicone paste lube (sold at Lowes in the plumbing dept. ). Should be good to go. Good luck

On the trigger of my Bostich Spiral load nail gun AND my Bostick trim nail gun air is leaking profusely from the trigger. Nail guns were not in use for about a year. When I first used them this weekend,...

A nail gun works on compressed air.
When you hook the air hose to the gun it fills a cylinder with air pressure.
When you pull the trigger. the cylinder pressure is released onto a firing pin that shoots the nail.
The air pressure line is also connected to the trigger and therefore the trigger has to be sealed.

When ever using a nail gun, you add a bit of gun oil in the back of the gun (not 3-in-1motor oil, it has to be non-detergent gun oil)

If you haven't used the gun in a while, it is best to oil up the gun and let the oil run down into the gun.
If you use anything but gun oil, the seals will give out.

Your trigger seal has given out. It is probably an 'O' ring. You can access it by taking it apart. Look for the O ring.
Bostich makes re-build kits for the different guns that you can buy on-line.
Back when I was in construction, there were several nail gun shops that sold and serviced nail guns, and sold nails to the contractors. I don't know if that business model is still active or if you have to send the guns to Bostich service center.

I have a craftsman 16 gauge finish nailer, model 918441. it is not advancing the nails. not certain how to adjust. cannot find the manual. is the manual available on line?

Assuming that the nails are correct for gun (16g nails measure .055) and feeder is actually applying pressure to nails (feel spring pressure as you close clip), most likely problem is driver is not returning to top of cylinder. This is caused by low pressure to gun, bent driver, lower bumper missing pieces/cracked, worn oring on piston or lack of lubrication. Remove cylinder and examine condition of lower bumper, replace if broken/cracked; check outer cylinder for check valve in place (usually small band or oring covering series of ventholes) ; replace piston oring as needed, make sure driver not bent. Parts available at sears web site. Good luck
