Which converter/adapter to use for cordless phone bought in US
I bought Motorola L 603 M cordless phone in USA and want to use it in India. The phone requires 117V 60Hz 35 ma input whereas in India we have standard 220V 50 Hz output. Hence just want to know which adapter or converter I need to use to make this phone work in India.

Only stupids buy cordless phone from USA. India uses ETSI DTMF standard for Caller ID which is not supported by any cordless phone sold in USA. It is about time you trash your worthless instrument in the dumpster.
Any Caller Id phone bought in USA will not show the id as the Caller id format in USA is FSK and in India it is DTMF. You need a caller id converter from DTMF to FSK. It is available online on www.ebay.in Just type DTMF to FSK converter and the item will be displayed. Right now it is avilable only with a seller in Bangalore and the price is Rs.589/- per piece. I bought it and it is working fine.
Just purchased the GE 25922 today. Looks like you can skip (ignore) the option to enter an area code.
United States' Area Codes are three-digit numbers. If the phone 'requires' entering a number you can use any three digit number. The purpose of this option is to display a local telephone number with only the 7 digits.
Example: 603 - 123 - 4567 '603' is the area code 123-4567 is the 7-digit local number.
If the area code option is programmed to '603', then if that number called '123-4567' would display on the Caller ID display. Which now reminds me: you would need to also subscribe to Caller ID with the Telephone Company for the numberic display to occur.
I too purchased an Uniden phone for India. Everything except the caller ID works fine. The caller ID wont work as the technology used in India is different. Try purchasing a FSK to DTMF converter or a separate caller ID box.
