Check tho obvious reseat any cards reseat ram One of the ram could be no good Many machines are fussy what ram you have and where you put it if in doubt only use 2 sticks of ram one in position 2 the other in position 4 if it errors on that try position 1 and 3 etc also make sure that power wires are on the hard drive and the dvd-rom etc

    mikadot Nov 26, 2013

If you have any cards, they may have failed. If you put a new card in , move it over to another slot in case it is having IRQ issues. The last thing it could be is that half of your power supply blew up

  • kent ladegaard Nov 26, 2013

    .Yep thats it (power supply)

  • kent ladegaard Nov 26, 2013

  • mikadot
    mikadot Nov 26, 2013

Then do you have a graphics card? If there a power wire on it?

  • kent ladegaard Nov 26, 2013

It sits just like the ram cards.

  • mikadot
    mikadot Nov 26, 2013

Gateway wont startup. One beep followed by two short

I would suspect the power supply or a power connection. The only other issue might be a motherboard, which is a bit more involved. Try another power supply if you have one around.

My hp-compaq dx2300 microtower restarts automatically when working. It is installed on win xp sp3. Please let anyone help if solution is known.

Hi names Rui, i question for you does your PC give a beeping sound when you turn it on? if does can you tell me how many beeps it gives?

if it give a designated number of beeps this might be the problem i will give you a chart so you can differentiate the warning beeps you hear.

warning beeps:

1 Short Beep DRAM refresh failure
2 Short Beep Parity circuit failure
3 Short Beep Base 64k RAM failure
4 Short Beep System time failure
5 Short Beep Process failure
6 Short Beep keyboard control gate A20 failure
7 Short Beep Virtual mode exeption failure
8 Short Beep Display memory read/write test failure
9 Short Beep ROM BIOS checksum failure
10 Short Beep CMOS shutdown read/write error
11 Short Beep Cache memory error
1 long, 3 short Beep Conventional/Extended memory failure
1 long, 8 short beep Display/Retrace test failed

hope this will determine the problem if none of this warning beep is heard try reseting the power botton in you PC cause sometimes the power botton will loosen cause of continuous use of the botton.

hope this will help you.

Why does my computer beep when I turn it on?

Here is a list of what beeps may mean:

1 long, 2 short Video adapter error: Bad or improperly seated video card Repeating beeps Memory error: Bad or improperly seated RAM 1 long, 3 short Bad video RAM or video card not present High-frequency beeps Overheated CPU: Check fans Repeating high/low beeps CPU: Improperly seated or defective CPU 1 short DRAM refresh failure 2 short Parity circuit failure in the first 64KB of RAM: Likely a bad RAM IC, or possibly one of the hardware tests has failed

Once you have identified what the beeping means you should contact the type of pc you have and ask what to do.

Dell 1545, i turn it on and it sounds like it starts but it dosnt, then after 4 mins it beeps, 4 times like beep beep beep beep lol! it loaded up once but crashed when i tried to restart it? whats the...

4 short beeps means the system timer on the motherboard is bad. You can try reseating the power connectors on the MB and resetting the CMOS memory but it's probably the motherboard. DELL'S QUALITY HAS REALLY SLIPPED!
