The auxiliary connector could be an input as your Polaroid monitor instructions would indicate. There may be no provision for external speaker connection.

How can I make a NEC Plasma Monitor that was given to me work like a TV that has AUDIO?

If it has no internal sound, then you obviously can't make it function like a TV aside from the picture right? It does have inputs whether HDMI or standard Cable wiring to see TV from a cable box?

You'd need to have RCA cables coming from the cable box (Audio out - white wire I'd figure) going into a stereo near the monitor that has a VIDEO button on it where the white RCA cable is plugged into the Audio In jack.

A stereo receiver or even old sort of stereo with a Video or Auxillary sort of jack with button to activate that jack will allow for surround sound from the stereo coming from the cable box in sync with the video of the TV.

Tip

Please program channel memory

Use the RCA video audio jacks. The TV is stuck on auxillary. Your cable box will have 6 jacks on the back red will be videoand white is sound. Plug the cables into the corresponding jacks on the TV and you good to go

I want to use my ipod in car but have no jack soket on cd to connect can i hardwire some sort of docking station to it ???. i have used fm transmitters but they all seem to crackle and im not impressed....

Will be ways cheeper buying a new car radio with an Line-input.
Check anyway if there isn't a line-input at the back. Then you could fix a jack female socket somewhere, connected to that line input.

Humming through speakes when on auxillary

Most humming in North America is either 60Hz or a harmonic of 60Hz. The number one cause of humming is a poor common. On co-axial cables this is the outside connection where as the signal is the male post in the centre. Corrosion, oxidation, poor contact are all possible things to check.

Speakers

make sure windows volume control is up.
its the speaker next to the time and date ,on tool bar ,bottom left normally.

play a song or video or such.
then check the cable in back of monitor it has a plug/connector that looks like a headphone jack /plug
follow it to the back of computer its color coded.
be certain the speakers have power if needed they will plug into monitor dc jack if the speakers are removable.
and check the vol control on the speakers.
