Question about Acer Aspire 5630 Notebook

Internal and external microphones don't work when used for speech recognition

Hi there,

I'm using an Acer Aspire 5630 laptop, and I'm stuck. My laptop will record me by using Windows Vista sound recorder, but it 'can't hear anything' when I try to install speech recognition. I've used several external microphones, the internal one doesn't work either, they are not muted and settting the sliders in the advanced tab doesn't work as well. Help!

How to set up external microphone on acer aspire 5332

The reason is due to the notebook being a very basic model and does not have a built in mic, but you should still be able plug one into the mic slot, i have heard that some mics are not compatible (used to work at the service centre UK) but which ones i do not know.

It would be helpful if we knew the Medion Model and the OS you are using. Internal or External Mic? Have you open the Control Panel and selected Speech Recognition or Sounds?

Hi there, I've just bought an Acer notebook ASPIRE 5750, windows 7 home office. Everything is ok, but softwares like speech recognition, skype and google talk, don't recognize my microphone...

You may have to disable the onboard microphone to use the connected hardware.
Realtek is very picky, same goes with speakers connected to the back and front at the same time, no sound. Disable the one you are not using.

Im using acer aspire 4732Z. When i use skype the other person cannot hear my voice? What might be the problem? do i need a separate microphone?

Good day,

I will first want to ask that do your laptop have a built in microphone like that use for speech recognition? If yes, has your skype account been configured to use this microphone? if no, configure that in the settings tab of your skype account.
If your laptop do not have an in built microphone then get a head phone that has a microphone attached to it and configure it in your skype account.

My acer aspire 4720z mic is not working but the output audio is ok

Try plugging in an external microphone. If it works, then your internal microphone has failed. If the external microphone also doesn't work, then try reloading the Realtek Audio Driver. There is also the possibility if you have previously used an external microphone, that the jack's connections have become unreliable such that the system thinks that an external microphone is still connected after it has been unplugged. With this situation, plugging an external microphone back in will obviously work.

Internal Mic problems

it should work straight away on skpe. Have you checked to see that the microphone check box is not checked? To do this right click on the speaker symbol (bottom right of tool bar if you are using XP)

4. Apply settings and close the window.

Microphone trouble on 5050

assuming that the mic itself isnt faulty, go to the right side of your taskbar and right click on the grey spekaer, not the red one and click on recording devices. When the window pops up make sure the mic realtek HD audio has a green tick and not the line in icon, next click properties and check the settings, you can also configure the mic from this window.
