I know that you had a chat about this matter, and I hope that your issue was solved. However, I had made a note of it when I saw the chat go through. I was unable to help at that time, but remembered having seen something of this nature and wanted to follow through on it.
Although the ze2000 is not listed, other 2000 models are listed in the following link as defective - and recognized as such by HP - with this very specific defect. (Please see http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/fastFaqLiteDocument?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=18703&docname=c01087194.)
Again, if your issue has already been solved, congratulations. Otherwise, I hope that the information provided here will be of use to you, either in fixing the equipment problem yourself (perhaps with a BIOS update) or by convincing HP to do something about it. At least you would be armed with good solid documentation of their recognized issue!
If this information assists you in resolving the problem, please take a moment to rate the solution at a "FixYa" level. If you do not feel that you can rate at a "FixYa", please post back with more information regarding what has occurred subsequently and/or more details regarding the situation, and I will gladly help you until we have reached a definitive solution. Thank you for using and rating FixYa!

The troubleshooting you have done seems to be fine. It does not seem to be a problem with the power supply, cord or battery.Did you try a hard reset. If there is a reset button on the bottom of your laptop, you might want to try pressing that with laptop plugged in, not plugged in, with battery, without battery and different combinations thereof.
If this does not work or you don't have a reset button read on.
Before assuming it's the motherboard, there is one other possibility. There is a part called a PCA switch. It is possible this switch has gone bad or a plug might have come loose.
If you are comfortable with doing your own work, you can obtain a repair manual for your laptop online. Within this manual, it should explain what is involved in replacing this part. It is really not too complicated.
It does not sound like a hard drive problem simply because it doesn't seem to be getting power to any other part of the laptop.
You can try these steps.
