Question about Heating & Cooling

I need to replace my condenser fan motor. I replaced it once before but instead of blowing out the top, it was blowing on the condenser. Should it blow out of the top? If so, what direction should the motor rotate? Does the fan determine which direction it blows?

Yes. It should blow out the top. The rotation of the fan does determine the direction of air. Either have the motor replaced and indicate the direction of rotation.

Condenser fan construction, generally would have the motor upside down. When purchasing the motor and fan, have it tested. the fan blow should be in the direction of the motor body.

Panel between the of doors rs2530bwp is very hot

f the space between the doors is warmer than normal, there is a problem with the airflow over the condensing coil. First, remove the front grille below the door. Then use a brush and vacuum to clean the condenser coil. After the coil is clean feel for warm air blowing from the condenser fan. If you do not feel any air, the condenser fans probably not running. To check the fan pull the refrigerator out from the wall and unplug it. Then remove the lower access panel. Once the panel is removed, try to turn the fan blade by hand. If it turns free, plug the refrigerator in and see if it is turning. If the motor is not running a voltage check is required to confirm the motor is defective. If you have a meter and feel comfortable making live voltage checks, check the ac voltage to the motor. The reading should be at least 110 volts. If you have the voltage, the fan motor has to be replaced.

you need to replace your condensing fan motor. the noise you are hearing is the compressor working against a lot of pressure because the heat is building up in you condensing unit. Prolonged operation without an operating condensing fan motor will cause your compressor to burn up, and then you will have the cost of a compressor changeout to the cost of a condensing fan motor.

I have never seen one that doesn\'t suck air in through the coil and blow out the top. My guess is that the double shafted motor was installed backwards.

If you replaced the fan motor with the correct rotation replacement motor the fan should be blowing in the right direction or did I misunderstand what you are trying to explain? My air condotioner is blowing out warmair. It blows out cold air forabout 5 minutes then warm again it's a 5050 series

It sounds like the unit is cycling on internal overload. The overload is switch the protects the motor from getting too warm. This would explain your cooling "cycling".

Check the condenser (the outside coil with vertical fins, the back of the unit). Is it clear of any debris? If not clean it using water or compressed air, using care not to bend or damage the fins or electrical wires/components.

Check the condenser fan motor. You can usually see the condenser fan motor through vents in the sheet metal. Check to see the the condenser fan motor runs when cooling is turned on, secondly check to make sure the fan blade is not broken, usually the blades are plastic. If the motor or fan blade is bad, you need a replacement.

sounds like you have a bad evaporator fan motor, heat rises,if the fan isn't blowing the cold air will settle to the bottom and the top will be warm, also when was the last time you cleaned the condenser coil ?very important to do this at least once a year, shut down the machine, remove the front grill, remove the cover on the left side,,with a shop vac and brush attachment vac off the face of the coil ,now get a towel and cover the cabinet where the front grill was, you can open the door, stick the towel in and close the door to hold the towel in place, set the shop vac up to blow and blow through the right side of the coil, the towel will stop all of the dust from blowing into your kitchen,do this a few times, remove the towel and vac up all the dust that blew out of the coil, set the towel up again and blow through the other side if you can and blow into the coil where the fan is,do that a few times, you can hang the towel and just blow into the cabinet so all the dust that you can't vac up off of the walls and behind the compressor will blow forwards, also i've found some coils loaded with grease, people don't use the hood vents when they cook the oil and grease floats into the condenser fan in the subby and gets into the coil,if so spray it down with grease lightning or any kind of chemical that cleans grease, wipe it down and blow through it a few more times, gotta have good air flow in there or you'll be changing out the condenser fan motor or compressor.from what you discribed check the evap fan motor and clean the coil at least once a year

Describe your frigidaire refrigerators frs26r4cq0

Your condenser fan probably is not running. It's underneath with the compressor. It should be running when the compressor runs. You can place a fan on the floor blowing on the condenser coils till you get it fixed. The fan should spin freely. Test the fan motor for continuity using a multitester. Set the multitester to the ohms setting X10. Place a probe on each terminal. The multitester should display a reading approximately mid-way between infinity and zero ohms. If the motor does not pass this test, it should be replaced. You don't need to test the middle one if you have one.

Compresser is not running

The condenser fan motor is most likely blown. A replacement fan motor and a run capacitor are most likely needed to get it back in working order.

Not cooling

If you still have this problem I would like for you to check to see if the fan below the refrigerator is blowing. This fan is called the condenser fan and is located beside the compressor in bottom rear under the refrigerator. If it is not running It may have a piece of paper or mouse or something lodged in the blade or it may just have bad motor bearings. If you use an exterior fan to blow air under the refrigerator it will cool again till you can replace the bad condenser fan motor.
